| Weird feeling about tomorrow night 13:46 - Apr 27 with 2562 views | Illinoisblue | Such an odd set of circumstances. We’re playing THE in-form team in the country, a promotion rival, yet it doesn’t matter if we lose. A draw is irrelevant for both teams. We win and it’s party time. Hard one to call but I think saints will have just a little too much for us. I’m not sure we have enough difference makers to win versus a very good team. We could do with Mehmeti and Nunez having the games of their lives; can’t recall the last time either made a significant contribution. They both need to step it up. Jack Clarke had a stinker v WBA, he surely can’t be that ineffective again. Billy Jean’s due another worldie. Now would be a good time. COYB | |

| Weird feeling about tomorrow night on 15:04 - Apr 27 by bsw72 | Southampton have played 1 more game than us in April, how come it would have taken more out of us than Southampton? |
They’ve got a much better squad and have successfully rotated throughout this run. Take CM - Bragg, Jander, Charles and Downes. Striker - Archer, Larin and Stewart. What the hell Will Still was doing with this team I’ll never know.

| Weird feeling about tomorrow night on 13:57 - Apr 27 by ITFCson | A draw is not irrelevant at all, seen a lot of people saying this which simply is not the case. It stops Southampton being able to catch us. It means a draw vs QPR would be enough to stay ahead of Middlesborough. It means if we lost to QPR then Millwall would need a win rather than a draw vs Oxford to get ahead of us. |
There is 0.0000001% chance of Millwall not battering Oxford!!

| Weird feeling about tomorrow night on 15:03 - Apr 27 by tractorboy1978 | You'd think so but pressure does funny things. We obviously go there to win but surely you'd rather go into the final day with it as virtually a two horse race rather than a four horse race? I think a draw is very unlikely though personally as Southampton will be so gung-ho if they aren't ahead in the last 10 mins or so that I suspect we would catch them on the counter. |
I don’t think it matters because we will have to win one of them regardless. It’s not like Boro or Saints being in with a sniff last day changes our task at all. [Post edited 27 Apr 15:13]

I think this is typical of most Football fans in terms of undervaluing their own players and overvaluing opposition players. We've scored two less goals than Soton and conceded 8 fewer. - Cameron Bragg has started more PL2 games than championship games this season. - Downes isn't available so their CMs will be backing up as well - George Hirst has had a better statistical season than Stewart - Ivan Azon has had a better statistical season than Archer. - Larin only joined in Feb and didn't score his first of the season until he joined Saints despite playing for Feyenord up until Jan. Football is very fine margins and they've gone through a decent patch of form but we've lost 1 game in 13 matches. We have a squad that is easily as good as them and one that over 90 minutes can absolutely compete. [Post edited 27 Apr 16:00]

| Weird feeling about tomorrow night on 14:32 - Apr 27 by Kieran_Knows | Oh that old chestnut. Playing against a team who have had the same if not tougher schedule than us. Have just come off the back of putting in a momentous 95 minutes on the weekend against the best team in world football - but it’s us that the schedule might catch up with. I swear ‘fans’ don't want us promoted. Such nonsense spouted at every opportunity at the minute. People need to chill the fcuk out. . |
Southampton are the most in form team in the country, they are at home and desperately need the win, so yeah I think they might have too much for us tomorrow and we may just run out of gas. Not sure where I have said I don't want us to get promoted, I believe we will be, just not tomorrow. As I said, I hope I am wrong but its just an opinion. Sounds like you are the one that needs to chill out.

To be fair, have you seen them since January? We are flogging Matusiwa and I think that’s starting to show a bit, they’re not having to do that in the middle. They’ve got a better squad in certain areas. Scienza and Jander have been top signings since their relegation and Larin was a good get in Jan. Azaz and Fellows at the level I’d argue were probably better value than some of our business. I don’t want to be overly critical but a lot of our signings are not getting minutes or making the squad. Either way they can’t catch us if we beat QPR so as long as that happens if we don’t win tomorrow, then I don’t care. Edit: Also Larin has scored 7 goals in 18 appearances so I’m not sure how you’re using that as a slight on them, that’s 2 more than Azon (in 38) has got and now has missed the most big chances in the league. Also shows there were strikers out there in Jan. They’re striker room is clearly superior. [Post edited 27 Apr 16:16]

But the broader point is you presumably watch every minute of every Ipswich Town game and then the odd highlight of the Southampton games. So you see every Town players misplaced pass, missed chance and you only see their players contributing to goals. Since the 1st January they have picked up 6 more points than us. It's splitting hairs. We have a squad that is more than comparable. Their 3 strikers are better than our three of course, but statistically two have had better seasons that two of theirs you listed as better. The Larin acquisition was great but the point was that he hadn't scored a goal all season for Feyenoord. He's not suddenly become the worlds best striker, its just a few goals and a bit of confidence.

I worded that badly; meant a draw is largely irrelevant for us being as it will still leave us needing to beat QPR. (Going on the theory that Milwall are going to swat away relegated Oxford).
