On the train from Southampton to London saturday 07:36 - Apr 28 with 2868 viewsmuccletonjoe

It was full of saints supporters, many of them delighted to tell me that not only would they beat us today, they would destroy our goal difference.
But then again they thought they would beat Man city and were sure we would get nothing from West Brom game.
So yes, not only would a win all but get us promoted but it would put one over the b@&tards too. What team chants yellows , when they play in red and white ?

The goal difference is largely irrelevant unless they think we will lose both matches, Millwall will lose their match and Saints (and/or Boro) will draw their last match. Or are they suggesting they will put 17, or close to, past us?!

I dont really see how goal difference will count for much seeing as we got a point from WBA .

A 3-0 will see us level in GD. Then if Saints beat Preston and we either lose or draw against QPR, Millwall lose or draw against Oxford and Boro don’t outscore Saints by three goals on Saturday, then they finish second.

It’s the sort of straw clutching we would be doing in their position.

Would have to be 6-0 to be level on GD, no?

No. 3-0 seesour gd drop by 3 and Saints increase by 3. So we’d both be on 27.

3-0 is a 6 goal swing, +3 for them, -3 for us, and sees us level.

Of course. My brain is frazzled by it all. I think I was hoping it was 6 as can see a 3-0+ loss easily

I might be being thick here, but the only way goal difference between us and Soton matters at all is if we lose to Soton and QPR and they draw their last game. And in that situation they’d need Millwall to lose and Boro to lose or draw.

No, our gd would go down by 3 and theirs would go up by 3 if we lose 3-0. So gd would be level.

They sound thick, unless they think they’re going up on 80 points by GD which would take a lot of ridiculous things to happen.

Poll: Ok gut feeling then, promotion?

Ultimately they know they just have to win both of their last two and hope none of the rest of us wins on Saturday.

On their recent form they will have confidence of winning both but for all 3 of the others to fail to win would be unlikely.

If they win tonight, Millwall and we both lose on Saturday and then Saints and Boro draw too we could all end on 80 points! Not going to happen that one, though.
