Hirst is a prefectly serviceable 3rd striker in the PL, I doubt we'd get better.
He may not have had a great season overall, but he did not look out of place in his few appearances in the PL last time. |  | | |

If he could finish he would have fired us to the title. That is due to his movement and positioning as much as anything. He is clearly a good player but there are equally good ones out there who can finish. |  |

Didn't Pablo have a while when he first arrived where he just couldn't score? And then he scored and it all clicked? Or am I imagining that. Azon reminds me of Pablo a lot. I think he used to throw himself over a lot and had to learn to stay on his feet too. | |

GB signed Pablo when he was 22. Quite a few were impressed watching him give John Terry the run-around when playing against England U21s. He was a bit part player in a struggling team & while he came good in the Championship the next season, he was never more than a decent 2nd tier player. |  |

For me Hirst looks better when we aren’t dominating the ball and playing more on the break, imagine he’ll be number 2 (given the realistic likelihood of being able to get in even 1 top quality striker) and maybe we’ll go back in later in the window for Azon if needed. For me I like the player a lot if he was clinical he’d be brilliant |  |

Such as Dan Neil, who was a near ever present in Sunderland's promotion squad. He was the right short term signing for us, plugging a hole in midfield that McKenna decided Cajuste wasn't robust enough to fill, but he didn't get a look-in at Sunderland & I would be disappointed if we went for him as a free agent. | |

This! The step up now is enormous and sadly neither Hirst or Azon are good enough...
The chances you get in the Championship dwarf the chances you get in the Prem, especially a newly promoted side.. |  | | |
