Nice swerve. But of we are going by polls, how about a Palestinian player?

https://www.reuters.com/world/

What is your view on Town signing Sergei Baltacha at the same time the Soviets were killing 500,000 to over 2 million Afghan civilians?

Just answer the question please.

If you want to compare atrocities then I don't think the October 7th attack is on the same level as the retributive actions committed in its name. That said I would expect the questions to be similar, for example military background, involvement in civilian casualties etc.

I'll continue to treat your whataboutery with disdain. I voiced no discontent regarding Baltacha's signing at the time, mainly on the basis that I wasn't yet born.

Ah. So shifting the goalposts now.

Previously your stance was that you would "have reservations if town were rumoured to be signing an Israeli player"

Now, you'd be ok if they passed your purity test. Of course yopu already know that Israel has compulsory military service.

I wonder if they would feel the same about signing an Iranian player? Or a Palestinian? Seeing as they believe that citizens are responsible for the actions of their government.

When the UK/US coalition killed between 150,000 and 210,000 Iraqi civilians should british and American footballers been blacklisted?

Or maybe they are in favour of this sort of thing

Or murdered at a music festival in his own country

So what exactly is your point? How is your post relevant to the actual debate about footballers being black listed because of the actions of their government. Perhaps when Manor Solomon visits Portman Road next season he should wear a yellow star on an armband so we know which player to boo during the game?

The differance is that Israel professes to be a democratic country and guided by the will of the people. These can definitely not be said about Iran and to a lesser extent, Palestine. Are you suggesting that the government of Israel are doing a solo run?

How many times does it have to be pointed out that being anti Israel is not antisemitic?

Aye, have to say- Israel have clearly and unashamedly committed disgusting war crime level atrocities and I also would be a bit gutted if in the current political climate Ipswich Town decided to sign an Israeli player, not because I hate Jewish people- but because what Israel are doing is absolutely monstrous and it would feel dangerously close to sports washing, to have a member of the Israeli national team (who may or may not have been a member of the IDF at one point) representing our club.

If that makes me “antisemitic” then the definition has wildly changed from what I understand antisemitism to be.

Why has it taken you two attempts and 2 1/2 months to reply to my post. Very odd.

BTW. You swerved my second paragraph.

There didn't seem to be any objections to when we were linked with Anan Khalaili in this window.

Maybe because he is an Arab-Israeli Muslim who plays for the Israeli national team and that doesn't chime with their apartheid Israel narrative.

BTW, if you read the whole thread her words were clearly antisemitic....

""Following criticism of the remarks, the ambassador, who has been contacted for comment, retweeted another message describing the antisemitism crisis as an "entirely constructed moral panic, invented by the Zionist lobby and their servile allies in Downing Street and the rapid dogs of the press".

Being anti Israeli government is not and never has been antisemitic. Most decent people are anti Netanyahu and his ultra right terrorist supporting war criminal government. That is an antisemitic thing to say.

Really?

https://www.timesofisrael.com/

He hasn’t won a majority in the last few elections and relies on a coalition involving extremists such as Bezalel Smotrich and Itamar Ben-Gvir.

If you are going to speak on a subject, probably best to check your facts first.

how did a post from 7th may 'pop up at the top of your feed'?

I must have mentioned antisemitism on the board so he goes back looking at old threads to score points.

As I said, his whataboutery thread the day after I had started the Hatzola ambulance attack thread was a real bed shitter. And one he didn't return to after my reply.

As Semites is a term for an ethnic, cultural or racial group associated with people of the Middle East and the Horn of Africa including Arab and Israeli people, this must be added to the list.
