| Suffolk results update on 13:02 - May 8 with 1623 views | Dubtractor | There are going to be a lot of disappointed Suffolk residents when they realise that Starmer is still PM, and that the new reform councillors actually can't solve the immigration challenge. | |

They get 2 years as the old council runs for one year alongside the new shadow authorities. Will basically be a powerless council at that point though.

How significant are these results in terms of predicting the outcome of the next GE? I've seen a couple of comments suggesting it's not that significant and that people will have 'wised up' to Reform by the next GE and that they won't get in. But then people also didn't think Brexit would happen, and as certain threads on this forum over the last few days have demonstrated, your average Reform voter doesn't seem blessed with much mental capacity for intelligent thought and self-reflection. I'm mainly looking out for Kesgrave, where I hope the incumbent (and popular landlady at The Bell pub) Conservative Debbie McCallum manages to hold on. No result yet.

But, on the bright side, they'll be a load of essential services cut and flags everywhere.

Not sure but I don't think the Borough count starts until the County count for Ipswich seats ends.

That sound sensible to avoid chaos and especially so because the county council is the most interesting one as Labour can't lose control of the council. [Post edited 8 May 13:37]

In Suffolk that looks just as disastrous for the Conservatives as it does for Labour - 33 councillors lost out of 41.

Well Suffolk was so heavily Conservative previously they really only had one way to go.

Hopefully in 12 months time the election will be run on local issues and all parties will make an effort. Labour & Conservatives seemed resigned to performing badly will be interesting to see turnout figures. Not convinced LibDems will do as well as they perhaps hoped. Also be interesting, once full results in, to see estimates as to who would be ahead in the new authorities.

Looks like Rupert Lowe is setting up for a very decent result in Yarmouth, albeit under the banner of 'Great Yarmouth First' rather than 'Restore UK'. And to think that he was too extreme for Reform.

The first time I have known Bixley never to have elected the Tory candidate.
