Well, Oliver might have thought that, but on his death in 1658, he was succeeded by his useless son Richard & the people realised they'd simply exchanged one dynasty for a different one.
They got their revenge though - Oliver Cromwell was "posthumously executed" in 1661, which is the sort of bizarre action I thought only Donald Trump to be capable of doing.
