I'm sure most of us would want to remove his Town career from our memory banks, but in case anyone is interested, he left Shrewsbury in October but joined Bury FC in January, & they won the NPL West last season. Mercifully, Toto only appeared twice but has been retained for next season.

He was wasnt he

Who would say was worse. Toto or diallo

Ah, thats tricky as they were both completely terrible.

Weirdly, I would say Diallo as he stood out as being proper crap in an otherwise decent Joe Royle team (with another exception in Georges Santos)

(I still have nightmares about Etherington destroying him in the play off against the Hammers)

Some people thought he was good.........!

I can't remember who but someone was referring to him as a clean sheet "king" or something similar.

Ah good times.......! I still maintain he's one of the worst players we've had who has played over 50 games.

They did i remember someone on here insisting he was an upgrade on Burgess ! Still we all have our opinions however wild , someone on here this season claimed O'Shea was the worst ever defender in the club for years .

Still feel the injustice of his red card at Sheff Wed, when Forresteri tripped over Nsiala long after he had cleared the ball. The appeal added another game ban which was mental as well.

Forrestieri was a really clever player.

By that I mean diving cheat, worse than Grant Holt.

Diallo was an average 2nd tier stopper centre back. For some reason, Joe had to play him at RB in the play off game at Upton Park & yes, he was given the run-around by Etherington.

I seemed to think he played right back quite a bit that season - but Its over 20 years ago and my PTSD has calmed down a bit since then.

Run around is very polite, I think the modern expression is "torn a new one" or more accurately "torn several new ones"

Tried hard but was shit. Can't really hold any animosity if they put in a shift.

Toto played with immense heart and was awesome for the last 6 games of the relegation season, including the final game against Leeds. When he got injured during preseason of the following season, it was viewed as a major blow to the team's prospects. Unfortunately Toto came back from injury too soon, played terribly in his first game back, and (IIRC) was substituted at half time. He and Wilson were subsequently an effective pair of central defenders - in League 1 ...

Only thing i remember about Diallo is one game for about 20 mins he morphed in to David Beckham and put in some outstanding crosses.

Yes, Paul Hurst signed decent League 1 players. Unfortunately, Town were in the Championship at the time.

Think we played Leeds (may have been a preseason friendly) and he was immense - strong, powerful and seemed ok on the ball…..I thought we had brought a proper bargain. Unfortunately it went downhill very quickly from there.

I remember Toto being pretty epic in the 3-2 win against Leeds after we had been relegated to League 1. On a good day his blocks and lunges saved the day. On a bad one it was a deflection to wrong foot the keeper or a penalty. Often those last gasp efforts was because he did not read the game well and allowed situations to develop. Not a great player, but a trier and by all accounts a nice guy.

Plenty worse than Toto.

I loved him too, really annoyed when we sold him (to West Brom?)

Fish played 45 minutes for us, Ingimarrson and Sonko played no more than a handful of times.

All 3 had great careers, with numerous top flight games, Nsiala was a lower league footballer

BFJ genuinely didn't rate Gaardsoe as Joe was old school, when a CB's job was to knock 6 bells out of the opposition number 9. He was Player of the Year next season at WBA when they won automatic promotion at a canter.

Met him after a pre-season friendly (Dartford I think), he was on the train going up to see family in Liverpool.

A proper lovely guy.

Just a shame he couldn't play football.

RIP Sir Bobby

As Joe said, (and I quoted over 50 games.) that players who played more than a handful or 2 of games.

I would argue some, if not all were definitely not worse.

Santos played at a better level and was nowhere near as bad. This guy played in the "2nd tier" for most of his career.
Diallo, despite seeing him throw the ball out for a corner vs Forest, he again played at a higher level and was nowhere near as bad.

The other 3 - well hardly played

If you were at the Lincoln fa cup game at home, 1-1, freezing cold, you will have seen Nsiala constantly kick the ball out. He could barely pass the ball.

If your statement is correct, then who is to blame? In my opinion it has to be the owner and/or manager., not a well-meaning but somewhat limited player who always gave 110% effort. I propose Evans, Hurst and Lambert as potential suspects ... .

Fish played 45 minutes when we were desperate so not really relevant.
Ingimarsson was a 34 year old near the end of his career & sometimes it doesn't work with older guys.
Santos came to us aged 33 & while he couldn't move the ball well enough to play in midfield (I only recall Joe playing him there once) he was a typical, "proper bloke" Championship squad filler from those days.
Diallo wasn't out of his depth at Championship level. Toto was - that's why he was regularly turned by centre forwards & then grabbed them.
