Someone stop me if I've got this wrong?

With a bit of Googling it seems EFL retained lists must be submitted this Saturday? But EPL teams are June 30th?

Is that right? The disparity seems odd.

30th June is when contracts finish (unless football management games have lied to me) so that website probably doesn't know and has just guessed.

Last year Town announced their retained list on Mon 2nd June.

The year before was Mon 3rd June.

So that suggests its usually the first Monday in June?

The list has to be submitted by a certain date, but clubs can announce it whenever they like.

I'm sure they can.

But I was stating when they were released in the past two years, and based on that when they are likely to be released this year.

I though that might be a more useful response to the OP than.... they can be released whenever.

It seems a bit all over the place. Looking at the BBC Sport website, the League two clubs have already released them.

They can submit it when they like but Saturday 16 looks like the deadline and EFL publish early June.

Assumptions

Release no contract offer
Button
Young
Townsend

Trigger extensions
Clarke 1YE
Humphries 1YE
Chaplin 1YE

Possibly new deal offered
Burns

I don’t understand your 1YE, surely you don’t think we’ll keep those three players on?

Zero chance.

RIP Sir Bobby

Trigger the extra year so they’re our contracted players we can sell, rather than let leave for free.

I see others have responded but the assumption is we dont let them walk when we may be able to take a small fee or loan fee having triggered the 1YE. We dont know the contracts so it is also a possibility we do let them walk rather than become saddled by any PL uplift for the remaining year of their deals.

I’m not sure that’s how it works though.

Players with service we usually let leave on a free.

Maybe get a few quid for Humphries though.

I can't see that happening.

If we trigger an extension it'll be for PL wages that those players absolutely would not get anywhere else.

There'd be a decent chance that any fee we got would be lost in paying off the disparity between the players' contracted wages, and whatever they managed to negotiate elsewhere.

You ain't a beauty but, hey, you're alright.
