I can't say as I'm overly enthused by this lot, but one thing they are TERRIBLE at is comms. Political Paul Lambert Boris Johnson was forever wanging on about his non-achievements. And like PRP, the easily conned fell for it.

Well we definitely haven’t been teaching a sizable proportion of today’s voting populace to interpret or fact-check properly that’s for damn sure, but not sure that lies at the door of the current government.

Well, I'm looking at the high prices for petrol right now. Caused by a war that Starmer's been savvy enough to keep us out of.

It's quite useful to look around. I know the idea is an anathema to Westminster bubble careerists in the Labour Together mould. There is a world beyond the M25! If you think the country is in a good state then there's no hope for you. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

We allowed the US to use our bases to bomb Iran. I don't think the Iran war is a reason to keep Starmer, a failing PM.

I am suggesting that anyone who’s a grown-up understands that repairing a country can’t happen as quickly as Nigel Statler and Kemi Waldorf’s jeering from the sidelines seems to be convincing people it can, and that measurable improvements in the NHS, housing and “small boat” crossings, whilst being kept out of a pointless war, point to things going in a better direction than people seem to imagine they are. Is there anything particular about your life that the Labour government are to blame for? [Post edited 14 May 14:56]

So why have experts/analysts? Just wait until the figures come out. Have some patience rather than giving predictions that are of no value.

It's a shambolic government that was essentially a fraud from the get go. No one apart from those watching the News Agents thinking they were well informed was even enthusiastic at the start. They've had two years and have revealed themselves to have no principles, vision or aptitude. Labour have materially supporterd a genocide, scapegoated pensioners and the vulnerable, failed to deal with housing crisis, got into bed with BlackRock etc al, offered soundbites and New Labour triangulation at a time of crisis when radical solutions are needed. Towns are knackered, rent is extortionate, we are being ripped off all over the place, the NHS is being set up to fail, we don't invest money in infrastructure or services. This is not a Labour government. It's a party for the professional managerial class who are hopelessly out of touch.

They got in because they 'weren't the Tories' They thought that would be enough. No plan for government. Breathtakingly irresponsible. But they got to pretend they were in the West Wing.

So how have there been measurable improvements in NHS waiting times, housing, “small boat” crossings and economic growth, then? Is that all a fluke? Or does this sort of thing only matter when the government are dressing everything up in slogans and screaming about it instead of trying to get on with it?

Measurable improvements is entirely prof managerial comfort blanket stuff. The needle may move on small items. It does not mean anything unless there is clear and sustained progress and an ideological will to change things. The streets are falling apart. We are not building houses on anywhere near the scale to address the housing crisis. The NHS is underfunded. Economic growth being marginally up in the first quarter as it was last year before plummeting doesn't mean anything unless the impact is felt by people. If you think this government is the answer then god help you.

Starmer's biggest problem, frankly, is that whilst being attacked by the right and extreme right, he has also been viciously undermined, from the outset, by the left who remain upset about the Corbyn stuff and appear to be content to damage the most left wing government they currently have any prospect of getting. There may be all sorts of valid grounds for objection, but what you get by undermining this government, is the current chaos and the strong likelihgood of farage instead. To misquote Stewart lee, its a bit like shit ting the hotel bed in protest at poor service, and then realising you have to sleep in a sh itted bed. The same of course can be said about people voting reform as a protest.

- The economy growing faster than expected - NHS Waiting Lists down to lowest level in two years - Trains being nationalised - The biggest rental reforms in generations (came in on 1st May) - Free childcare *massively* increased - Erasmus scheme back for students - Introduced legislation to remove the remaining hereditary peers from the House of Lords - Didn't invade Iran when Tories + Rerform were pushing for it Kier Starmer and Labour are very good at running a government, but very bad at politics.
