| The economy has grown... despite the Iran war on 15:19 - May 14 by redrickstuhaart | Starmer's biggest problem, frankly, is that whilst being attacked by the right and extreme right, he has also been viciously undermined, from the outset, by the left who remain upset about the Corbyn stuff and appear to be content to damage the most left wing government they currently have any prospect of getting. There may be all sorts of valid grounds for objection, but what you get by undermining this government, is the current chaos and the strong likelihgood of farage instead. To misquote Stewart lee, its a bit like shit ting the hotel bed in protest at poor service, and then realising you have to sleep in a sh itted bed. The same of course can be said about people voting reform as a protest. |
If you think this is remotely a left wing government then god help you!

| The economy has grown... despite the Iran war on 15:21 - May 14 by JeanManuelThetis | - The economy growing faster than expected - NHS Waiting Lists down to lowest level in two years - Trains being nationalised - The biggest rental reforms in generations (came in on 1st May) - Free childcare *massively* increased - Erasmus scheme back for students - Introduced legislation to remove the remaining hereditary peers from the House of Lords - Didn't invade Iran when Tories + Rerform were pushing for it Kier Starmer and Labour are very good at running a government, but very bad at politics. Is there anything particular about your life that the Labour government are to blame for? Or are you just going off the convenient talking point of things like “knackered towns” being jeered about from the sidelines that have been in that state for decades but Labour haven’t miraculously rescued in two years? | | | |

They are two years in and have been utterly useless, corrupt and destructive. If you can't see it, you need to ask yourself why you don't want to see it.

rather than just constantly spitting your dummy out, do you actually have any constructive ideas about how things could improve faster? Turning back 14 years of austerity and public service cuts can't be done in a flash. And surely steady improvements in all the things that have already been shown to you, is better than the s**t show we had before.... therefore, we are in fact improving.

I can’t see it because I can’t identify anything particular about my life that the Labour government is to blame for, however much the media and Nigel Farage try to convince me that they are. I’m therefore genuinely interested to understand whether there is anything particular about your life that the Labour government are to blame for.

| The economy has grown... despite the Iran war on 16:05 - May 14 with 767 views | BloomBlue | Which is why kicking out Starmer could be Labour's coffin nail moment. As I've said on other posts, Labour was elected on 'we're stable and not constantly changing leaders like the Tories' as much as anything else. Well they're now changing, it looks like, and that will mean a change in (some) direction. If the economy goes backwards, which is possible especially if the Iran/US standoff continues, then the other parties will argue its Labour's instability in changing Leader that caused the economy to go backwards. As we know Parties don't win elections they lose them | | | |

Yes. Here's a very small amount. Rather than careerist ghouls like the Labour right, encourage politicians with principles and beliefs and ability. They are surprisingly popular with people. Honest conversation about what we need to spend to repair public services. The NHS is a miracle. Let's talk about how we fund it. We can do more now so how do we keep fund that and what should be prioritised? Raise taxes and ape Scandinavia where satisfaction with services is high. Stop closing hospices because there's no funding anymore. Social care. Talk about the reality of this and what it will need to wrestle it from the clutches of private companies who only care about bottom line. End the idea of houses as assets. They are houses. People live in them. They should not be encouraged to treat them as investment. Stop thinking that New Labour triangulation and the third way is possible. It's over. It blew up after 08. Create hope for people by having government take control and invest in works. Stop outsourcing everything to serco who charge an arm and leg and do a crap job. Clean up Britain and pull all levers to help the towns left behind to recover. Stop thinking the world exists only within the M25. Imagine a different future.

Labour party needs to be destroyed is my feeling. It's been hollowed out. I voted Labour every election until 24. Won't vote for them ever again.

I’m asking you. I’m trying to understand what I might be missing in the frame of reference of other people who are wanging on on TWTD about the terrible state of the country. The country is in a terrible state. I am beyond insulted by a government that has been a corrupt hatchet job since it's conception as Labour Together, destroyed any chance of a left wing agenda, has been corrupt and feeble in office, and has failed to address the crisis the country is in. Its mistakes impact on everyone all the time and if you feel you're unmarked then that probably says more about your circumstances than about the reality of the government and it's performance.

I’m immensely fortunate that I’m not directly affected by problems that have plagued the country since the Tories reamed it senseless nearly as much as many people are, and I’ve never pretended otherwise. I was wondering whether you were a person who could bring some helpful direct perspective to the conversation, but you appear to be yet another SoundbiteBot, so all the best and I’ll nope out there.

I think it's pretty disingenuous to suggest that unless each individual gives you a bespoke print out of how this government is failing them then it means Labour are doing a good job They've been in for two years and had 14 to prepare. It's not acceptable.

Talking of "disingenuous", giving them 2 years is beyond harsh, as is treating the preceding 14 years as being one big seamless thing, uninterrupted by events. [Post edited 14 May 17:08]
