"In these circumstances, the only appropriate response is a sporting sanction which would prevent Southampton FC from participating in the EFL Championship play-off final."

The FA will not cancel the biggest game of the the season £££££

They also have to pay Wembley the hire costs!

It’s done and was last Tuesday- everything will remain the same!

I’d suggest Playoff final goes ahead but a hefty punishment for Saints

Another suggestion ( not necessarily saying it's the correct one ). Move the final back a week or so. Replay the Southampton/Middlesborough semi final on the original final date, if Southampton are proved guilty beyond any reasonable doubt of the charges laid. They are in addition given a set amount of points deducted before the start of next season whichever league that may be in.

Can't see how that would be possible. Wembley is booked out the following weekend on both Saturday (Rugby League Challenge Cup) and Sunday (Women's FA Cup final). Then it goes into concert season.

It would need to be held at an alternate venue, which would be an administrative nightmare.

Do clubs only practice their sneaky tricksy stuff in the final 72 hours? Either allow 'spying' or ban it altogether.

That would be a massively insufficient punishment given the reward of promotion.

Middlesbrough have lost out through someone else cheating so how does a fine fairly rectify the issue for them?

For me the only correct action would be to give Boro a default 3-0 win for the first leg as it was within the 72hr window of that game Sou were caught cheating.

A fine of £200k and and suspended points deduction no doubt.

I would be amazed if expulsion is the outcome but let's face it, if Saints win on Saturday, any other punishment is totally pointless given what the gain vs what they lose.
