Somerville and Fernandez respectively were Leeds and Southamptons best players the first time we went up. They certainly got some players with a lot of the physical attitudes as well.

7 year contract from Man Utd, wages likely insane, maybe there is a clause in there. Have him behind Azeez, sorted.

None of them. Bowen is a good player who will move further up the food chain. The rest? Meh. Somerville looked a terrific player two years ago. He doesn’t now. Most of the West Ham players look like they are stealing a living. I get that it’s a rotten club, but apart from the spell ofter the Marcus Stewart copycat goal, they should have issued pegs all round. Nothing there. Newcastle? Shadow of last years team but were good for an hour or so, but there’s going to be a clear out and a refresh there. Of their players? Out of our league unless you go for a 35 year old injury prone hasbeen like Trippier. The keeper Pope seems to be playing in Teflon gloves and I can’t see much point in him either. To suggest none of WHU’s squad would upgrade our team is absolutely laughable.

Not really. Just how would a load or even a couple of their clearly disinterested wage-chasers benefit us? They’re going to get deservedly relegated to the Championship and showed very little when it mattered today, individually or collectively. Lose Bowen and maybe one or two others and who’s to say they won’t do a Leicester? Better clubs than them have. Equally with a new manager and a bit of player training they might make top two. But they won’t do it just because they are West Ham.

It’s a stale club these days, playing in front of a disillusioned fanbase in a stale stadium that ships managers but they have a miles better than squad than us obviously. The fact they’re going to get just less than 40 points should show you how much work there is to do. They’ve obviously run their course in a miserable season but there is clearly PL talent there, something we isn’t too prevalent in our squad. [Post edited 17 May 20:18]

I still reckon Disasi could be good with the right coaching, although I'd want him permanently rather than a loan.

Somerville is Prem quality, but we're already pretty well stocked at left-10. Wan Bissaka would be an excellent signing. Good age for a defender, offers a bit more going forward than Furlong. Bowen is on the slide vs a couple of years ago. 5/6 fewer goal involvements this season vs the last two.

Where is that link? His wages will be astronomical after he signed from United, not sure what kind of clause would be on there but he’d want a lot of weekly money I’d imagine. Would love that kind of profile for a right back though, could easily see him going to a PL club a step up from us.

Wan-Bissaka is that increasingly rare beast in modern day football. Yes a full back who likes to get forward, but really good on one to ones when he's back doing his defensive duties, having pace helps. Whether we could afford him/his wages is out of my hands but he should be on any serious list.

No, I was curious who you consider to be an upgrade over our squad... I will add I don't watch a huge amount of wet spam games BUT when I have watched them... They are bad! I don't doubt there is some evident individual talent but I am fairly confident we would beat them in a one off game if played now.

I didn’t notice him tbh. Collectively, their attitude was awful. Up there with Leicester’s when they were kicked out first time around. Slow, disinterested, no anything individually or collectively. Then that bloke slaps one in from distance after Newcastle donned the pipe and slippers and they looked lively for a bit. But they were still poor and quite frankly just filling their boots with £££ for as little as they could get away with. No wonder the manager looked like the bloke in the thunderbox who has just realised somebody’s nicked the bog paper. Unless a player from there is actually known and there’s a reason why they individually were so unprofessional, I’d swerve them and look elsewhere, not least because their better players like Bowen will go to somebody higher up the food chain. There lies our problem. We are at the bottom of the PL heap when it comes to attracting players which is why I’m hoping our recruitment is a little more targeted and a little less shotgun this time around.

I think Bassaka turns off too many times to be someone we should go for. I liked him at Man Utd, but when teams start selling players and aren't in financial difficulties or getting demoted you have to ask why.

Bowen won't leave, he can cope with 12 months out the Prem. Not that he (or any) West Ham players are in our grasp! Maybe Wilson.

| Walker-Peters from West Ham.? (n/t) on 08:51 - May 18 with 1030 views | TRUE_BLUE123 | I'm not sure I would be touching West Ham full backs tbf. I have never really seen it with Walker Peters, he is alright but just don't see a Premier league footballer there, not sure what his top skill is. Diouf is alright, hell of an athlete and loves a cross. He puts in about 50 a game and only 2 are any good but if he stays he is one I imagine would dominate in the Champ. Mavropanos and Todibo are solid centre halves but out of range for us. Bowen is Bowen he will go to Newcastle or something like that. Fernandes is the star of that team, really good player and will be off to an elite team somewhere in Europe. | |

Wilson? Too old and a yard off it for me. Good player in his time. I’d rather we went for a big headache creator like the Sunderland lad.
