100%.

We need 2 centre forwards. Get one in who knows the club, the players, the manager. Has a great physical profile and has scored goals for us in the prem before.

Then go and get creative and try and find someone abroad whose game translates well to England.

Happy days.

Being realistic, hard to see us signing anyone who outscores his season with us (probably Delap included!).

Goals from around the pitch has to be better this time round.

Tbh, even when he was with us amidst all hype, I thought he was largely limited in his game. He makes up for that lack of guile and aptitude with brawn , and ges still doing it.

I have watched him many times this season with Chelsea and looks completely out of his depth. I really hope he doesn't return here, because hes not good enough. I wish him well, of course, where ever he ends up but long-term I think he'll eventually drop back to the Championship.

Jesus wept! Watch back his goals against Villa and others, then tell me again that you think he's limited and not good enough for us.

He was being touted as a successor to Kane for a reason. The fact that he's had a crap season at a basket club like Chelsea could end up being hugely in our favour.

100%. What Delap did in his debut season was pretty remarkable tbh.

If we persist with the number we absolutely need more involvement from there. Not asking for Prime Chaplin numbers in the prem but you need 5/6 from your attacking players.

That’s my number 9 right there.

Bring him home.

It's a no brainer, he's hardly been flogged to death this season either given the amount of game time he's had..

Still think Newcastle or Leeds will be interested...

I find the idea that he 'downed tools' laughable too. A young player in his first full season at PL level who overachieved but couldn't maintain that form for the entire season.

Yes, issues with composure and judgement during some matches but he's also a young player and there should be allowances for some of that.

If we end up with two forwards better than Delap this Summer then we have done remarkably well in the transfer market.

Yeah McKenna would be great for him. For us, on loan, he’d be better value than the money we’d need to sign someone like him permanently.

I don't disagree. I'd take him in a heartbeat as our no 2 striker on loan. In that situation I'd have Azón as no 3 for something very different (and potentially a substitute 10 for games where we are behind) and send Hirst out on loan myself. But I don't think Delap is quite good enough to lead the line week in and week out.

Though to be clear I still think he's a complete knucklehead on the pitch. Sometimes battering rams are fine just being battering rams, so you have to take the rough with the smooth. You don't want to rely on it as Plan A however.

Good luck in finding someone better than Delap to play the lone striker...

Make no mistake, the Chelsea experience won't have done him any harm, rubbing shoulders with some top players week in week out..

Spot on.

Someone pointed out on another thread a while back that he scored the same amount of goals post Xmas as he did pre xmas.

His all round game maybe took a slight dip but that coincided with the whole team essentially running out of gas.

I think the problem is that he knows he's out of his depth, and his teammates know it too.

He must be very low on confidence, and all the backroom changes at Chelsea since he joined won't have helped.

I'd be surprised if he plays for the Chelsea 1st team again, I think it would be risky bringing him back here, but if anyone can get his confidence back and turn him into a PL player, I think Kieran can.

It's crazy because he's got the power and strength to win those contests legally. Needs another year with McKenna, but not sure if we need another year with him!

Im not sure I can cope with watching him endlessly plough into opponents and then do that grin as if to say "why you upset?" like some idiot in a pub trying to start a fight.

Playing for us he is going to get reds.
