Goodbye Super Kieran Mckenna 07:44 - Jun 3 with 2715 viewsWolfieAtTheBack

If he is going to go do it quickly and with everyone's best wishes.

For us to appoint a new manager, staff and buy pretty much a new team is arguably too much (for any club) to do in a 12 week period.

I have less confidence in Ashton to be able to pull this all together, he is a championship level operator at best.

A bookmaker released some odds and you have organised the wake. Are you ok?

He may have done a stupid thing, but let's not start pretending that Ashton isn't up to the job.

The transformation he has overseen at Ipswich Town is quite remarkable, from a slowly declining League One outfit to a club with a renovated ground, Premier League facilities, in the Premier League. No, he did not do it all by himself, but a lot of the key decisions were taken by him, plus driving things along and seeing they actually happened. Also, he communicates with the supporters, something we have not always enjoyed.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

Its a 'when' rather than 'if' with McKenna's future, like it is for anyone.

There's little point worrying about it, I hope he stays for many more years as he's a top manager and superb ambassador for the club, who has worked so hard and contributed so much, but if he decides now is the right time to pursue another opportunity then so be it and I'd wish him well. He's done an incredible job, would leave with my best wishes and life goes on.

FWIW I don't think its a slam dunk he leaves this summer, 1 his buy out is very high and there aren't many examples of clubs paying that sort of money to get their manager, 2 he has a lot to give up in leaving and 3 I'm not convinced Fulham / Palace is enough of a pull, but we'll see.

I'd agree on the quickly point IF it happened. A new manager would need time and a pre season here and from a recruitment point of view I would think prospective signings would want some clarity over it.

According to Talksport sources KMK wants to go Fulham, that is more worrying than betting odds.

Presumably if a another bloke said he thought your wife was beautiful, you would pack her bags and driver her over to their house based on this.

One season wonder, not really PL class. Not bad for a middling Championship club, should keep them safe from relegation next season.

Good work by Philogene...... GREAT WORK BY PHILOGENE!!!

Couldn't even muster an off-the-record quote for that piece, very thin stuff.

Its not ideal that she is telling all of her mates that she fancies him more and has already packed an overnight bag just in case.

Does seem like there a very real chance he could go this time, feels like the time is right for him, by getting Ipswich back up he's proven he can do it a second time with new team in different circumstances. It's given him a real legitimacy and proved he's not just a flash in the pan.

And let's be honest as well as the many positives , that he clearly loves the club and area and is highly valued here. There have been increasing negatives too: signs of a deteriorated relationship with Ashton (including the Farage mess) poor recruitment, and feeling supporters weren't patient won't have helped. He didn't seem happy for long chunks of last season, lots of sighing and heaviness in his pressers.

My gut instinct is that he will go this time and OP is right if it's to happen make it happen soon. Where that leaves Ipswich who knows but at least if he leaves he leaves us in a great position. Imagine what it would be like if we lost in the playoffs and McKenna moved on, I wouldn't fancy our chances of getting promoted at all.

Poll: What rating out of 10 do you give to Ipswichs season up to this point?

Crap talk your so gullible lol , Fulham fans don’t want him as he is not good enough and lacks Premier experience, Frank is preferred and no compensation needed.
