Get it done!

A few other clubs interested, so just get this one over the line.

Leaves us with a cool £205m for the rest of the squad.

RIP Sir Bobby

He won’t choose us if other established PL sides are interested, like Nelson and Broja didn’t two years ago.

Broja chose us, we pulled out after medical due to his injury. He then only had Everton as an option when they were prepared to take a risk on him that we weren't.

After seeing the Liverpool documentary and how much his Dad interferes, I'd say no.

I feel he's a player who'll show early on in his career and will eventually drift downwards. The Villa loan was unfortunate..... but if he was as good as some make out he'd have been given more of a chance at Villa.
I don't fancy him and I think his next club will buy his potential which isn't there.

And those 2 points are only 2 of the flaws. The player transfer fee is amortised over the length of the contract, likely to be only £8-10m in the first year.

Finally, what we receive from PL money does not translate 1:1 into what we can spend. SCR drives the cap, and sustainability tests now drive what you can realistically spend. PL money is a parameter of those calculations, but only one of many.

We will spend c£200m on transfer fees alone this summer.

You may well be right, but that doesn't make your original maths right

As I posted in detail elsewhere, under SCR we could spend another £330M and still be within the 85% 'revenue : player costs' ratio. Significantly more if we pushed to the edge of the 115% 'amber' level (but would then have far less in subsequent years). 5 year player contracts would further increase what we can spend on transfer fees (~£410M).

I don't think we'll go close to the ceiling, but try to keep to a ratio below 70% or maybe a bit more.

My initial "maths" was clearly a little tongue in cheek.

The point is, we are loaded, lets bloody spend it!

That price seems steep, Villa could have bought him for £35m but decided he wasn't worth it, so hopefully after last season we could get him for 20-25 with plenty of add ons

The other one who plays in similar positions is Ethan Nwaneri, who's currently training with England. He has a failed loan to Marseille last season so you'd think Arsenal would let him leave again

Nwaneri is one I'd love us to go for on loan! He'd be very exciting on our right side which we know needs strengthening

I can't disagree with that.

Availability of funds and adherence to financial rules is unlikely to hold us back . It will be competition with more established clubs.

Would be a ridiculous signing. Would be good for Arsenal too giving us a player who would be guaranteed to start most games.

Newcastle being heavily linked

Poll: Will Phil ever confirm we are actually close on a signing ever again
