Starmer set to resign on Monday on 13:37 - Jun 22 by leitrimblue
I'm not sure most of um do believe Reform would improve it ( though possibly a couple would..). I wouldn't be surprised if about half of won't vote next time.
They just don't see their lives improving i imagine. ( No matter how much Labour tell um it as)
what would they see as something that would improve their lives though?
and would there be anything a government could realistically do to provide this for them?
and how would that be portrayed by the media they consume?
Starmer set to resign on Monday on 13:48 - Jun 22 by jasondozzell
Facile.
The libs throwing up their arms for the predictable 'the country is ungovernable' routine.
The truth is the world we knew came to an end in 2008 and these idiots have been trying to prop it up for 20 years because they want to keep their zone 2 kitchen islands amongst other things.
The ungovernable thing is based on the complete disconnect between what people believe and what is factual. It makes actual government steps almost irrelevant alongside social and other media.
What are the three most important policies you say need to be implemented, and how do we achieve it?

it's a really tricky square to circle...
Its difficult for me to answer that for definite as I live in very different circumstances to them. But I imagine just simply feeling better off and having some kinda spare disposable income after they've paid there bills would be a good start.
Possibly not having to wait quite so long for Hospital appointments? ( this is something I know nothing about, but have heard um mention)
The majority of um don't consume an awful lot of social media. Actually a few of um will be the only people I know of that don't use any kinda social media.

the answer to the first is to reduce taxes
the answer to the 2nd is to raise taxes
and therein lies the problem, the media and the government will pretend both things are possible at the same time...

My kitchen was sold to me as having an "island", but it's connected to a wall on one side. Is it still gulag for me comrade? Or death in your new Great Terror?

You realise that appointment waiting times have reduced notably over the last two years?

Yer yer, they've never had it so good.
Sorry - but that is so utterly disingenuous.
No one has said "they never had it so good". You were asked what sort of things they are bothered about. I pointed out that Starmer's government is actually improving it, and you reply with that?
A perfect demonstration of the point. Facts aren't important. Just feels. Starmer bad. Facts irrelevant.

So you want to pick and choose the occasions people can protest?
I think Bray's timing was poor, but in a democracy I welcome all peaceful protest even those whose views I disagree with.
You sound like the monarchists who loudly objected to the Republic protesters who chose to protest the coronation who used the exact same argument, "not now"
If Bray wishes to protest today good luck to him just the same as if any BNP lot wish to. The alternative is a sinister place where we only allow those protests we feel are tasteful. Not for me thanks.
It's more that I want people to pick and choose the occasions they protest with a bit of self-restraint in just a few extraordinary situations. Compromise not extremism, effectively.
Good work by Philogene...... GREAT WORK BY PHILOGENE!!!

Okay third time lucky. Your top three policies. And how we achieve them.
GO!
Do you understand how democracy works
The Starmer project ending with the last few supporters shrieking 'well what's YOUR idea then?' is entirely in keeping with the entire wretched debacle.
Governments are supposed to lead with ideas and vision.

Ok,I'll just tell um their lives are improving. Job done
I wonder if It wouldn't be worth someone in the Labour Party spending some time in these places. I know that might mean mixing with the plebs a bit, but it may be beneficial moving forward

Correlation isn't fully causation. 2008 was when the digital revolution took place too. iPhone was released 2007, and suddenly everyone had a Linux computer and social media in their pockets. It supercharged the effect of 24h news media. It was like 24h news media that people actually consumed half their waking life. But without producers, a director, standards, nor a reputation to maintain. Already short attention spans became myopic. The populist hard-right/left followed.

Salad cream is vile stuff.
Indeed, but it's Great British vile stuff, and I reserve the right to stand on the White Cliffs of Dover in just my Union Jack underpants with a knotted hanky on my head and throw stones at the thousands of Small Boats full of mayonnaise as I munch my white bread Salad Cream sandwiches singing Rule Britannia!
Good work by Philogene...... GREAT WORK BY PHILOGENE!!!

you can't criticise outcomes if you don't have any idea of how it could've been done better.
no-one's suggesting the government is perfect, what we're trying to find out if the alternative (reform currently) could do a better job.
have you got any policies that would make a material difference to people's lives and could survive media scrutiny and economic reality? if you can't manage 3, one would be a start

Jesus Christ.
Replaying 'video nasties' panic isn't really the way out of a social and economic crisis.
It was the crash that proved that the accepted neoliberal management of things was no longer fit for purpose but important people didn't want to accept it, realised they were holding the microphone so inflicted the ensuing chaos on us.
