If we were to spend £200m would you rather on 22:52 - Jun 20 by Guthrum

We need quality over quantity, so 6 x £30M players would be amazing. (as long as they are £30M+ players and not just overpriced bang average players)
Wheres the 24/25 option of £15 million players from the EFL, who are already at their ceiling, and worth less …, while Brighton sign them for £2 million and sell for £52 million with a years contract left.
That’s what we’re competing with.
How much we spend on players doesn’t 1% matter or indicate quality. How good they are - that matters.
Bournemouth, Brighton, Brentford, Sunderland, Leeds. They sign huge quality, often £5-15 million, worth £40 million plus before they kick a ball, because they are elite players, scouted with elite skill. Rinse and repeat to build an elite club at this level.
VALUE and quality, not price, correlate to success at this level.
We can’t function as we have in the market, and stay at this level.., there simply aren’t enough or indeed any teams doing it worse.
And last time, and even this to a smaller degree, we (had) more headroom with resources than any of those sides (under PSR rules).
VALUE. Cost is irrelevant if we stay within governance rules. What value you get determines long term results .., the legacy of waste doesn’t re-set, mistakes are liabilities that can often run for 5 years or more.
Look at our squad. Then look at what we’ve spent. Now look at the consequences…, what we now need to spend to have even 1% chance of staying up.
Consequences.
We need to be three levels above the levels we’ve shown in talent ID, and I’m not sure Ashton is showing much sign of letting more talented people than him add value.
Hope though. GON hopefully has some value to add from his time in France,., that’s the best league in the world to find talent that’s good enough, at prices that are better value (so more quality, and more ability to sign a larger number of them).
Sunderland demonstrated perfectly that market can yield the required levels, at prices any premier league side can afford - they were play off fodder and their talent ID has seen them SALE two levels above Ashtons ‘talent spotting’ .., results don’t lie.
So we don’t need any players at any price point. We just need talent!!
