New starting XI 10:00 - Jun 25 with 3235 viewsWallingford_Boy

Walton (although likely to be replaced)
O'Shea
Davis (although likely to be replaced)
Matusiwa
Philogene

Anyone else good enough to start in the Prem for us?

Nunez, Clarke, Greaves, Furlong, Egeli all good squad players, but does look like we will need 6-8 new signings that can start for us.

And clearly a hell of a lot of outgoings!!

RIP Sir Bobby

Under McKenna I figured we'd need 7 starters and 4 or so squad players. All up in the air now really because I've no strong idea how O'Neil regards these players or how he'd use them.

Will he go for a 3-5-2? I would reckon you'd need starters at RCB, RWB, 2 x CMs, 2 x STs
Sticking with 4-2-3-1? Presumably a RB, RW, 1 x CM, 1 x CAM, 1 x ST.

Well he said 4-2-3-1 in his presser, so assume that'll be the case.

Rumour around 13 new signings and lots of outgoings.

And a new home, away, and third kit?

Davis was exposed largely due to McKenna maintaining the same system he had played in L1 and the Championship but against far better players. Persisting with a double pivot that was overrun time and time again and having players infront of him who were not always defensively switched on whilst still expecting Leif to be a major attacking outlet is the real reason he looked exposed. O'Neil may well be more pragmatic in his set up and this may benefit Leif.

Solution to the problem?

Why do you think that?

He struggled last time.

I think how much he struggled was overstated. Our system and the way we played didn't do him any favours. People moaned about him being out of position but i'm sure he was asked to get high up the pitch because that's how we play and he was an attacking weapon for us. It is physically impossible to do that and be back in the left back role especially in transition against some of the athletes in the PL.

He is an athlete himself - pace and great engine - and has great delivery. In a better team he thrives IMO.

If he's played similar to last time we will get the same results,
He can't get up and down quick enough,
For a defender his positional play is all over the place,
So what do you do with him at this level,
His forward play is good enough but you have to relinquish the defending duties so for me he's a bit in no man's land,
I to think he will start the season

Literally no one can get up and down that quickly. You can't be the furthest man forward playing cut backs for the forwards and set in the back four when it breaks down - that's not positional play, that's physics.

Is Palmer an absolute none starter?
Davis
O'Shea
Matusiwa
Mehmeti?
Clarke?

Squad: Nunez, Philogene, Greaves, Furlong, Johnson, Burns, Egeli, Hirst, Kipre, Walton, Azon.

I think the 5 out field players with quality signings around them are good enough for the PL. This window is going to be vital obviously, but I think we are in better shape than 2 seasons ago. Add some PL or International experience plus a few promising younger players and we have a chance. I'm excited and think we have a real chance of survival.

Poll: New hobby suggestions for NeedhamChris.

Yep and he was right at the top of the league for chances created. He just needed some cover.

O'shea, Davis, Matusiwa all good enough imo

Then you have, Clarke, Philogene, Egeli, Greaves, Furlong odds suggest a few of them could and will really step up.

Many players come up from champ having never played or thrived there before to go on to be solid and even very good prem players. The list is endless. What I'm saying is there will be a few that chould really step up that we are not expecting to.

Of course it was a long time ago but look back in 2000. The PL was still a beast of a division and top heavy yet so many players you'd have said won't step up and they did and some. That season we were still odds on to go down.

Mehmeti?!

Not sure what you've seen that no-one else has.

He will definitely be off, Nunez as cover for a new no.10

Nobody has seen either play Premier League football?

They both signed to be Premier League players and neither of them are going to leave unless GON totally discounts any chance of involvement which you are obviously not going to do as a brand new manager.
