I seem to recall there was sad postscript to that story. I think whoever in the family had the Scottish line wasn't actually related to him in the end. Maybe it was a hidden family secret situation that sometimes don't remain hidden.

I was talking to him about that when he was here with Radio Leicester last season. If I remember rightly, I think he had surgery in the summer and never really recovered. Played a handful of games for Leicester later in the season and that was that for him. I think he said he would have fancied staying longer, particularly if Town had gone up and Leicester under Micky Adams, who he evidently didn't like, got relegated. |
