Anyone read anything concrete? Thanks

If you read the entire sentence, I literally said “well one of” and quoted then had made a QF before, maybe try reading. They hadn’t won a knockout game for 40 years prior to the other night I believe. There was about 800k shutting down the city when they beat Equador. It’s the last game of the tournament at the Azteca. It’s one of the biggest games in their history by any logic and clearly their biggest game in a generation. I’m not sure they are fretting over R16 v QF much going into this one and England is as big as it gets in terms of European competion for that population.

| UPDATE: england following the strategy to arrive as late as possible on 09:32 - Jul 3 with 325 views | unstableblue | It seems that England will fly later today Friday (US time). So less than 48hrs before kick off. Strategy is that it was better to train and sleep in Kansas, and behind closed doors training to avoid spying Potential that they’re going to use oxygen and bed tents. They didn’t have enough time for full acclimatisation so this the next best option. The training in heat in Kansas does provide some improvement in coping with altitude | |

That and the Mexican fans setting off fireworks through the night Ecuador have made a complaint (they were less effected by the altitude obvs) Oh and Ecuador had severe flight delays - Mexican government plot?!

It's a totally full analysis of what prep has been made. For those who can access obvs (I have access via work).

There are drugs you can take to make it easier, but unless they’re using pressure vessels somehow for sleeping they will be going in unprepared (in terms of altitude). The only silver lining is it’s not that high (nobody’s going to be getting altitude sickness and keeling over, hopefully!), but apparently it’s certainly felt by the players. I don’t see a way they can legally prepare for it. I’m assuming blood doping is banned lol |
I agree with most of this Swansea. Albeit 2,200m is considerable for athletic performance. I did the Pikes Peak Marathon in Colorado a few years ago and running a 9 minute mile at 2,500m in the valley feels like a 7:30 minute mile at sea level. I travelled about 6 days ahead and adapted well.

so this FIFA ruling was ignored for Iran, who had to fly in & out of USA on their match days?

No matter when they fly in, they're going to be playing the match at altitude. They'd be better placed to get as much time as they can at altitude, because the air will be just as thin as if they turn up on the day and hope for the best. |
no there is research on this that says theres two ways to handle it, you go and spend 2 weeks to 10 days at high altitude and let your body acclimatise first or you go in as late as possible and try and smash and grab before your body knows what’s happening to it, and get out asap. unfortunately FIFA requests teams (its unclear if this is actually a rule or not and might be why theres confusion about whether theyve gone already or not) arrive at the city venue at least 48hrs before kick off, as Iran kept complaining about that earlier in the tournament, but even if that were just a request FIFA do actually have a rule that says you must be there minimum 24hrs before kick off anyway so it doesnt matter ultimately, they have to be there within the next day and ahalf regardless, so theyll get the worst possible effects from the adaption.
