Linked with him in the EADT today and he’s totally transformed this Portugal Croatia game.

Glad I stayed up. Best game of the comp so far imo.

Joy sucked out of the game as ever. Hope Spain crush 'em.

At least the 7am version of me will be slightly less grumpy when the alarm goes off for work with the saved 30 mins.

We haven't been linked with him by the EADT at all. It's just the usual fluffy, filler Alex Jones opinion piece on players he likes in the absence of the EADT actually knowing about anything that is going on.

Tragic, innit? When I did my journalism degree in 2006-09, it was my dream to work with EADT. I did it for a short term (Stuart Watson had just started out covering local sports scene and had a mullet hairdo), but it's bonkers how low-grade the paper has become.

Some of Alex Jones' stuff is no better than the FootballFanCast/Football League World tripe you see on NewsNow. Mind you, I doubt the EADT are paying Alex much more than what the freelancers get on FFC and FLW.

Totally agree, its gone seriously down hill since Andy Warren left. Alex and Ross behave like two ridiculous school boys and Mark Heath to busy talking about himself. More interested in rating the 'media scran'.

Feel for Stuart Watson because he always comes across well but we get zero exclusives, nothing ever ahead of the curve. Ashton really put the brakes on them when he first came in.

I had to give up on the KOA podcast. When it was Heath, Watson and Warren it was a must listen for me. They had great chemistry, genuinely felt like I would learn something every time I listened and was entertained. I cant get in to it now at all, just doesn't seem to have the same substance. The dynamic with Ross and Alex (both seem like nice lads) just really puts me off.

Blue Monday the go to now. Would love TWTD to bring back their post game videos from the Prem, they were great.

I don't mind Alex Jones at all, he's intelligent, knowledgable and has some decent takes.

These EADT puff pieces must be generating some clicks though right? I mean they are desperate to write a full article everytime there is a tenuous link to an ex-Town player who has played 4 games a decade ago.

Personally I have zero interest in what Gassan Ahadme is doing now.

Yes - I think they do themselves a disservice with some of the content they put out. It is writing articles or fluff pieces for the sake of it when sometimes less is more. A local paper should not be getting involved in commenting on rumours from nonsense X accounts.

I don't know if they are indicative of most local papers up and down the country now that the game has changed re football reporting and who gets the exclusives (nationals or independent journos via agents) but I suspect they are. I've wondered before whether Watson might move to The Athletic as an ITFC writer if we establish ourselves in the PL.

They do themselves a huge disservice. I can't get into anything Ross Halls does either. As nice a guy he seems, he just lacks the sense of professionalism that I think journalists should have. Some of his comments have me raising my eyebrows.

Re. The Athletic - I think that would be a tremendous outcome for Stu.

If Stu isn't on the podcast, it's very hard to listen to.
As others have said, Alex is smart enough & knowledge enough to provide decent content, both written & orally. The current 'doing more with less' business model there, however, leaves him doing some really low grade columns, while his double act with Ross on podcasts is doing him no good at all. The constant 'snappy snaps', 'belly', 'my friend' & mispronouncements are as grating as they are extraordinary from a supposed professional in his 30's.
Again, he seems like a nice enough lad & it is more the responsibility of his boss (Mark Heath I guess) to have mentored & developed him by now than any fault of his own, but I always felt that Heath liked having him on there as a bit of a fall guy that he could make fun of, rather than coach as a maturing broadcaster.

On Ross, I agree, I think the fact he's not matured into the role is a huge issue. He's been in the role for what, 5-6 years, now? The mispronunciations are nauseating. They really are. A real discredit to the industry and, like you say, Mark Heath prefers to laugh at him than pick him up on it and help him improve.

I find it pretty disrespectful tbh. I know that malice isn't intended but just feels wrong to not go to extra effort to pronounce someone's name correctly.

And they have the brass neck to charge for it.

During the summer its rinse and repeat, 8 defenders town could possibly buy, maybe, if they fancy it, IDK. 8 strikers town might think about buying even briefly, perhaps.

1. Messi, a return to Europe could appeal
2. A croation chap thats linked to Bournemouth
Etc etc

You don't have to pay for it. Their entire site is so sh1t that you can read any paywalled page using an AI paywall remover.

Ross makes the podcast completely unlistenable. The man has some Sort of brain injury. It’s incredible how he has become such a big part of it. He now interview ex players. It’s embarrassing.

I think if I was a young journalist I’d be petty annoyed at the jobs for mates of it all. It’s a shame - jones and Watson are decent.

Makes me feel better at dodging the paywall.

They're in a bit of a tough spot where they've still got to fill pages and keep things ticking over online so have to be putting out *something* which isn't easy when there's naff all going on.

That said, do agree with the general comments about the quality of stuff. Pieces about which non-league side some former loanee from 8 years ago is at can hardly be of interest to anyone. The 'transfer verdict' bits which report on any old link and always conclude 'not sure about the source, seems unlikely but could be something in it I guess' are equally pointless.

The Athletic seem to have done away with club-specific writers now but Watson is a very good football writer and holds the whole thing together.

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.

He just pronounced is “Strag-bourg”.

I can’t cope with him anymore. One of the most irritating people I’ve ever come across. Absolutely ruined a decent podcast.
