You're assuming that elimination from the competition will actually be elimination from the tournament. Historically you would have been on solid ground but nowadays who knows?

It’s an interesting reminder of the backdrop to the tournament. So far it’s gone exceptionally well for the US when it’s been left to the local organisers and local population playing host. That’s shown the best side of the US and thankfully has dominated coverage. Then occasionally you get reminded of the rot that’s infected them with the corruption between FIFA and Trump, officials/fans and even some team members refused entry, etc. Luckily that hasn’t spoilt the football, but it shouldn’t be forgotten either. |  |
