One of the best England performances I’ve seen… 09:02 - Jul 6 with 1073 viewsITFC_Forever

Up there with:
Holland 4-1 in Euro 96.
Germany 5-1 in Munich 2001.
Germany semi-final in Italia 90.
Germany semi-final in Euro 96.

Full of guts, quality and character. So glad I made the effort to get up for a couple of hours in the middle of the night.

- altitude and no way to prepare
- hostile hostile atmosphere
- fireworks all night the evening before
- delay to kick off
- remarkable home record
- down to ten men for large part of game
- two brilliant goals with lovely movement/supply

Our defence really improved. Quansah was doing well. But stones, burn and Spence made us very solid.

Actually think red card may have helped us.

We’ll need that week’s recovery.

Real feel 35c incoming in Miami against Haaland. He’ll be facing 3 Man City defenders who know him.

I think that is true both individually and collectively.

I posted in the early hours - considering the fact that we have looked so shaky and poor defending at times, that last 25 mins or so was unreal. But even before that - our approach to the game, the first 20 mins or so - was almost perfect and then to switch and grab two quick goals was superb.

I thought Bellingham was superb, possibly the best game he has had for us? No one had a bad game (Quansah was excellent to the point of the tackle), in fact they all had really good games.

Mexico are a very good side, and at home, very few teams go there and get anything.

Top drawer performance. I also posted that Tuchel had made a big play about 'team' and that really was one of the best team performances I have seen from England for many a year.

Homer - not sure if you’ve seen Bellingham’s post match BBC interview. Really good. And really emphasised the team element, indeed the whole country being together

Mentioned before about the similarities with Ipswich last year and defensively we were so open at times but also when we were settled in a shape we were brilliant.

Last night reminded me of scum away!

Isn't Miami one of the air-conditioned stadiums?

*Edit:

Just googled it; I must have confused it with another stadium. It's open air, alright.

At least it's the same for both sides, but those could be painful conditions.

You’d think Miami would be covered and air-conditioned.

But I imagine that heat will be less draining then the altitude at the Azteca.

And we’re playing not Norwegians now and not Brazilians.

Sorry, but the red card didn't help us. The game instantly turned to attack v defence for the final 30 minutes. We managed that brilliantly, although there were a couple of hary, scary moments. It caused palpitations for my ticker. God knows what it did for the team and coaching staff!

For me it had the vibe of the Lineker / Poland game especially the way the first two goals were scored.

Oh heck. I've heard these "not-Norwegians" are an even harder opposition than the Norwegians.

One of the best world cup games i have seen England involved in. I watched it this morning on BBC2 , a complete white knuckle ride in the second half. But they got through it magnificently.
Been to the stadium they play in next weekend in miami. A really impressive place, very hot inside . But that will affect Norway just as much as us.
