Has this guy had a really lucky draw to get to this match? Is his best waiting to come out?

He beat Dimitrov and Cobolli who are both very good players, he's just to undergunned against Zverev who can blast you off court.

He's earned more in the past 2 weeks than he has in his whole career.

A bit harsh given that he took the first set to a tie break

Or he's had the tournament of his life and is absolutely cooked against the 2nd seed?

Well, perhaps too little info to judge then. Zverev did comfortably take control of that set but Fery played some good tennis in the first.

He will establish himself in the top 50 imho, and could even approach top 20. I don’t see why he couldn’t do well on hard courts.

He made more of a dent on Zverev than Fritz (6th seed) managed in the previous round - he’s done remarkably well, and seemed to be one of those who didn’t get nervy when openings came his way but just seemed to grow more assured instead. A bridge too far today, not out of the question that he could be one of those that never gets to this level again, but the signs are certainly promising that he will.

Not convinced by the top 20 part. Could dip a toe.

He really.is.vert.very small for a modern tennis player. Talented but he is at such a disadvantage.

What a run he had. Hope he can do what you say of course.

He’s been playing some sublime, fearless tennis this season and has deserved all he’s got. A step too far today, but this is someone who was about 400 or so in the rankings a year ago, 114 last week and will now be 30something in the world. The lad’s done good and is an excellent prospect for some more British success (hopefully!)
