A rather lovely way to spend my Sunday after the tension of last night’s match. A couple of nice tench and some bream close in on the float.
Think I’ll stay here for the rest of the day as I have the lake to myself. Wildlife in abundance and all for the princely sun of a tenner and some sweet corn and luncheon meat.

Had it have still been in the 30’s, I wouldn’t have bothered today, but there’s a nice cooling easterly breeze that I’m fishing into and it’s sunny but not too hot. Got a couple of large willow trees either side of my swim casting some shade and the tench have got their heads down.
I’m still the only person here fishing. Bliss 😁 | |

Had myself a superb day on Thursday, fished a pit that is predominantly carp but decided to target the decent roach and rudd. Had a couple of roach over the 2lb mark, and some very nice rudd to a pound, then had a monster perch (just over 2 1/2lb take a small piece of frankfurter sausage. |  | | |

Sounds fantastic, incredible for your mental health too, Its either being amongst the trees or being next to the water, but it does something that lifts you, I still pop down to the river, the barbel have just disappeared, very few anglers down there now, even the bailiff hardly shows his face, but even though the odds of me catching down there are slim to say the least I still find myself down there, it's a stunning location, I'm there purely for that, and the faint hope that the odd barbel is still about, but it's just excuse to be there, yep mad I know.. |  | | |

I used to go fishing loads when I was younger, was properly addicted to it, a beautiful and relaxing way to spend the day. I don't fish anymore, in part because of the ethics of it, but I can't pretend I don't miss it sometimes.
The large pond I built in my garden is sort of a substitute, so I can sit and watch the fish go about their business, and sitting next to the pond with my morning cuppa is a great way to start the day. |  |

Not coarse fish. Trout and salmon fishing is under a different branch of the pastime and therefore comes with different rules and license. That said, certain European countries have different laws and cultures surrounding the taking of fish for the table, though through education and explaining our own laws and customs that appears to be a lot less common here now.
Supermarkets occasionally sold carp though haven’t seen it for sometime. | |
