Of course the press 21:47 - Jul 12 with 1173 viewsGuthrum

is trying to make out there's some big rift between Tuchel and Bellingham, just because the latter replied (with a confused expression) 'Whatever' when the interviewer tried to goad him with garbled news that the manager wasn't happy with the performance. Bellingham then went on to praise the team spirit, which is much the same as Tuchel had said.

I'd imagine it took about 30 seconds to straighten out in the dressing room afterwards, if it was an issue at all.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

Tuchel seems to like players pushing back a bit.

It does seem like Bellingham is being set up as the fall guy if we don't win it which is incredible when he's been playing as well as he has.

It was modern sensationalist 'journalism' laid bare and the entire nation could see it for what it is.

Interviewer picks up a piece of information, presents it out of context in another interview for a reaction. That reaction becomes a headline and 'story' and the whole circus dives in.

The real story here is Gabriel Clarke acted like a c*ck and yet none of his colleagues are calling him out for it whilst the vast majority of fans who watched it happen are horrified.

It's 106 miles to Portman Road, we've got a full tank of gas, half a round of Port Salut, it's dark... and we're wearing blue tinted sunglasses.

Gabriel Clarke's dad was abrasive film maker Alan Clarke who made Scum amongst other work. At least he didn't start walloping TT with a pool ball in a sock.

‘Where’s ya tool?’ ‘What #£&*&£# tool?’. ‘This #£&()) tool’. Bosh.

I thought Clarke was out of order. He was trying to make news with his ‘incisive interviewing’.

There is no issue between manager and players.

Seems pretty clear that Tuchel thinks the best way to motivate his players is by being confrontational and spiky in the press, and it’s working.
Surprised certain denizens of TWTD aren’t jumping on how “childish and silly” Jude is with his Whatever comment. Maybe they’re learning?

In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!

Whose effigy can we string up this time?

Maybe burn it instead, that's more modern old school.

I think Tuchel was just being entirely realistic. England didn't play that well, tactically. It was mainly mentality which got us through - with Bellingham singled out by the manager for particular praise later in the piece. I'd rather he was honest instead of coming out with platitudes to cover problems.

Bellingham himself was, I think, simply confused by the interviewer's line, without the full context, in the immediate aftermath of a hard-fought win. It was a "What are you on about?", not pushing back at his boss.

I very much doubt there is any kind of "rift". But the press are loving the faux controversy.

I think this is a good appraisal Guthers.

The press are soft as shit. Tuchel passionately defended the mentality and desire of the squad, pointed to the last 2 results where we've faced into adversity with the altitude, atmosphere in Mexico, red card, going behind to Norway etc. He said we didn't play particularly well and wants us to be better, he's a football manager, he's going to want that.

Bellingham defended the effort, and his teammates. He showed a level of passion himself, its healthy and you'll see it in every successful dressing room.

Such a non story, but our media always seem to get massive hard ons at the opportunity to be negative about our team.

Gabriel Clark directed more than a manager, the Robson documentary.
