Zondervan was asked by a Town player to see if Ulrich Wilson could bring a load of videos from Holland when he started his trial at Portman Rd.
Zondervan said no problem as wasn't illegal in Holland and didn't think it would be in England.
To be fair, RZ never dibbed or stitched anyone up and took all the blame!

First player I saw live to score for us (v. Spurs 1985). Managed to get hold of his Fisons training top too, still have it.

Told this story a couple of times on here but back in 1996 I was a campsite courier in south-west France and Romeo and his family came to stay for a couple of weeks.

Chatted to him every day, he revealed that he was helping sort the signing of a young guy by the name of Bobby Petta that summer (my only ever piece of def info) but the best bit was I persuaded him to play for the English campsite team against the French on the beach for our weekly match.

Romeo scored two, I got one (Romeo assist) and we beat the French 7-4. One of the best days of my life.

Did he have some confiscations of porn vids by HM Customs, maybe an urban myth or misremembered. What I do know is that he bought a Panasonic VHS camcorder from my company back in the day, to be used for family occasions on holiday obviously, (hopefully).

Also told this story a few times, but some of the players came to my junior school for a kick around on the school field community thing, and Zondervan overhit a pass that smacked me on the head and felled me like a skittle.

He did come over and pick me up, said sorry, ruffled my hair then carried on.

I was around the La Rochelle region, discovering how hairy French women were. So much so that i made rule to only tent hop with the Dutch.

Good times but definitely a one-off experience.

Yep, very good signing and player. I doubt even he himself would compare him to a couple of other Dutchmen we had here, but he was a very decent player.

He was signed mid-season with a goalkeeper (whose name escapes me). We looked to be destined for a relegation battle, but both signings seemed to galvanise us and we had a very good second half to the season. Romeo ended up being an important player for a number of years. My Dad always reckoned he never saw him have a bad game.

In Chicagos one night, after a full day, Grimsby at home possibly. Anyway, it was Gus Ulenbheeks debut, three one on ones with the keeper, three into the North stand. Romeo was his agent, me and a mate pointed out Gus’ finishing was maybe a tad poor, but that he was really fast. ‘Don’t worry guysh, he’s not really a forward, it’ll be ok. Have a drink?’ Top man! Disappointed when he left just before that first Prem’ season after being a key part of promotion.

My second favourite player..... Stalked him by the players exit after every home match for a while and pleaded with him to come watch me play for Kesgrave Kestrals in a cup final. He turned up, remembered my name. Watched a half.

Absolute legend. A real gent.

He was a very good solid player who for a while I think had the most English league appearances for a non British player..? Just an all-round midfielder apart from no goals. One of my favourite players.

In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!
