Huh. Keir Starmer receives Légion d’honneur 19:40 - Jul 14 with 3101 viewsSwansea_Blue

The first time it’s been awarded to a UK PM.

No pressure Andy lol!

He's following in good footsteps.

"More controversially the Légion d’honneur was also given – though later revoked – to the then Syrian president, Bashar al-Assad, in 2001 and to Vladimir Putin in 2006, both by Jacques Chirac."

Oops!

I’d argue that for his stance of Ukraine and how he’s conducted himself through Trump’s sh*tfest of meddling, this one is probably deserved. Shame he didn’t seem to have the same conviction towards UK issues.

Looking at some of the recipients, it appears on the face of it to be a bauble given to just about everyone. Started up by the ogre of Europe Bonaparte in 1802, you get a gong and a nice tin badge.

Tbf, after a quick read it seems Macron has reduced the numbers lobbed out. but even so where’s mine??

Good points both.

He leaves as a disappointment, but not as a disgrace, unlike the majority of his recent predecessors.

The most unpopular President of the 5th republic awards the most unpopular PM since the war (except Truss), a diplomatic honour. Both are aloof technocrats patting each other on the back. The old left would hate this

Phil and the team should share one at the very least, split according to their effort and popularity of course. So, what? About 60% Mark, 35% Gav and 5% Phil, or is that a bit harsh?

It could look absolutely lovely on Bentley village green.

Only possible issue is given the enormous scale of Bentley village green the piddly little French tower could soon be lost

A brilliant lookout tower for the home guard as well. We should send Benters over to Macron with our proposal. I’m sure they’ll be up for it.

Give them one each. They look quite cheap, so shouldn’t cost much. And they’d be grateful.

More of a disgrace than his predecessors.

Sanctimonious rubbish on display today in PMQs from him and the media.

I'd definitely pop over to Bentley to have a look at it.
( ok to park on yer drive Nig style?)

I remember dropping coins off the top it on a school trip as a kid. Though obviously wouldn't wanna damage the glorious lawn of the village green below.

Ahh, but when it comes to rinsing the hard working taxpayer for those expenses, he’s the man. Nobody does it better than him! I suspect he’s been tutoring Macron which helped secure his little Muttley medal. Along with the promise of a couple of free Taylor Swift tickets next time and a comfy chair with After Eight mints in his box at Arsenal.

Let’s face it, he’s going to be trousering every penny of that £115,000 expenses a year he’s entitled to. His processors do. He’ll be laughing all the way to those wonderful House of Lords lunches. Best in London. And no more pointless grovelling to Trump for a kick up the @rse in return either!

No wonder he looks so happy.

Seriously!

Truss?
Johnson?

I think you and I would be fairly closely aligned in ideology, but you gotta have some give and take.

Im not fan of Keir, but I would suggest he's slightly less incompetent then Truss and slightly less corrupt then Boris.

Not sure thats saying much, as you could probably say that about most of us on this forum

Im thinking of using it as a slogan on my work vehicle.

Less incompetent then Truss
Slightly less corrupt then Boris

If that doesn't drum up some extra work I don't know what will

Neither of Truss or Johnson were as deceitful and lacking ability as Starmer. I mean Johnson can at least speak in public! He's what he is - a cad and bounder who's not daft and has charisma. A different disaster as PM of course.

Truss at least kept things mercifully short.

Starmer is the most deceitful PM we've ever had and has no political acumen.

Forensic we were told...
