Interestingly, I have recently finished reading I Married A Communist by Philip Roth which is the story of the rise and fall of Ira Ringold, a big American roughneck who begins life as a teenage ditch-digger in 1930s Newark, becomes a big-time 1940s radio star, and is destroyed, as both a performer and a man, in the McCarthy witch hunt of the 1950s.

I don't see how the White House's opinion has any relevance on the matter? It's a FIFA rule, not really anything to do with the host nation. It would be like if they commented their opinion on a decision made by a referee in a match, it's not going to change the decision.... Oh wait.

We can see it with Farage's rabble at the moment - they're quite happy to champion a woman who called for the burning of hotels housing immigrants as a brave fearless free speech warrior, but a radio presenter not being very complimentary towards their leader with a rather unflattering description is a disgrace.
