Goodbye to Eckert in most likelihood then.

Cue the cries of injustice from the Saints fans 'because it wasn't cheating, and everyone does it anyway'

Did wonder whether the fact that most football staff disappear off on holidays at the end of the season had made it difficult to progress the investigation. But you are right - it's dragged on a long time.

The Athletic suggesting no touchline ban at all for TE. Seems a clear case to ban someone for breaking rules.

I read that article as The Athletic have spoken to Saints staff who think a touchline ban is unlikely. Maybe they've been told that by the FA but they also didn't think they were getting thrown out of the playoffs!

Southampton have already made very clear that they are standing by him.

It's perfect timing for the opposition. Ban him from the game for a year just before the season starts. (If a ban/punshment happens of course)

He should be banned from football then sent to Portsmouth after to make sure he learnt his lesson.

True it's all speculation right now, but if he doesn't get a ban for 3 months (a month per game) or more it doesn't send a great message. Yes the club punished but I thought that has no bearing on cases against individuals so previous club sanctions shouldn't lessen sanctions on TE
