Delap & Emegha available ... 15:20 - Jul 27 with 5521 viewsBellevue_Blue

Delap links obvious, Emegha was injured for a decent chunk of GONs reign but played a key part in conference League run in.

I still think we need an experienced head (Awonyi/ Wood etc)unless the plan is to get rid of Hirst as well.

Who is always injured.

Also had disciplinary issues last season, was dropped by the club internally for poor attitude.

Not sure he even played for GON last season, whilst it was dressed up as injury think it may have been more issues off field.

Take Delap in a heartbeat.

Struggled at Chelsea, but nobody can deny just how much of handful he was for us.

In a strange way, think he would suit a team like us in a counter attacking side rather than being in a really dominant side like Chelsea.

Strongly disagree, he knows the club, he knows the area and we know he can score 10-15 goals a season and hit the ground running.

As it stands we don't have 15 goals in the team never mind one player.

You don't have to like him, but we all know he can score goals that are needed to have any sort of chance of staying up.

The goals completely dried up the more selfish he got, to the detriment of the team.

I would never sign a player based on form shown 2 seasons or more ago, who showed very little in the previous season, mitigating circumstances or not. If any PL club wants to take the gamble and it pays off, well good luck to both. Not for me however. Ref Chuba Akpom, though in my opinion he's never been played in the set up and system that suited him at Boro.

I hope you're not suggesting Akpom is a better option than Delap.
A 30 year old who scored 2 goals in 29 appearances in the Championship versus 23 year old who scored 1 goal in 28 appearances in the Premiership. Delap might be a loose cannon but Akpom is one that can't fire.

As it stands we do not have a player in this team that can score 10-15 goals in the premier league unless of course Emmerson turns out to be some sort of goal machine.

Failing that we are going into it right now with him supported by Al Hamadi and George Hirst.

When I say that out loud and if Delap was possible I would bite their hands off to get him back to PR on a season long loan.

Delap on a season long loan if the only plan this season is to finish 17th.

He would be the only player we have that we know can score a goal at PL level on a fairly regular basis.

6 down votes for this.

Who else right now from what we have is going to score enough goals to keep us in the premier league, name them?

If the option to resign Delap is there, then I would 100% take it - loan or permanently.

I personally find it hard to believe how anyone would avoid having him back. He scored 12 goals for us in the PL for us and quite frankly without his goals, his play and Omari that season, we would have finished below Southampton. Delap just needed a bit more help as the reliance fell heavily on his goals. Our second highest scorer that season was Szmodics with 4.

We need more goals and physicality in the team if we want to stay up, he adds both. No brainer for me.

As people seem to forget. Delap scored as many goals in the 2nd half of that season and he did in the first half.

You can prove anything with facts.

Honestly, not sure why people think we are in the position to declare that Delap isn't good enough for us at the moment.

Plus, Chelsea can never be used as the test subject when judging these things. They are a complete basket case of a Club.

If either of these guys wants to play for Town, we need to make it happen.

Delap's drop in form for us coincided with the whole team losing confidence, nobody played well in the 2nd half of the season. He may have appeared selfish but he was having to do it all himself, we were a shambles. Harsh to judge him based on last season too, injured at the wrong time, multiple managers and styles of play, Chelsea were a mess. He's still young, we know what he can do in the right set up, he just needs games, a system he can thrive in, and a bit of love again. I'd have him back in a heartbeat. Same with Emegha, super highly rated, no idea why Chelsea bought him in if they are just looking to move him on, book balancing maybe? He's better than we have and if the interest is there on his part we should explore it.

Not sure what information is accurate but apparently

1 goal vs. Fulham (January 2025)
1 goal vs. Aston Villa (15 February 2025)
1 goal vs. Wolverhampton Wanderers (April 2025)
1 goal vs. AFC Bournemouth (April 2025)

I always felt that chelsea game was the one where he changed and AI at least seems to feel that too

Forest are one of the teams we kind of have to get something against home and away. Why would they not be interested, he is a good footballer (bit bonkers on the pitch granted) and if you are trying to stay up he will score vital goals.
