This interactive Reuters article on Ukraine front line kill zone is shocking 13:04 - Jul 28 with 1335 viewsunstableblue

Like a scene from the Terminator. Awful. Barbaric.

Putin keeps sending them into the meat grinder, into a living hell. “The Center for Strategic & International Studies estimates around 2 million soldiers since early 2022 have been killed, wounded or are missing, 1.4 million of them Russian.”

Farage is sympathetic to Russia. And Trump just recently said: Trump said on Truth Social that Putin personally promised him Russia would not sell weapons to Iran, noting he takes Putin "at his word".

That's so depressing. Such a waste of life and needless destruction of the environment that will take decades to recover.

I would imagine it's similar to what's going on in Gaza too, not that we'll ever know.

Humans, eh? Certainly not humankind.

How they’ve animated and made that article interactive is quite remarkable, brings to life what are already shocking words and insights.

It’s quite blown me away. How in 2026 the human race is allowing this to continue is a sad indictment.
But when you enable people like Putin, Trump, Musk and hell Farage this is what you get.

One thing that is sure for that article… the battle zone has changed for ever… the spiders web of optical fibres to control drones against jamming… paints a grim futuristic picture

Hopefully Ukraine can increase that Russian number a lot before September 20th. Forced mobilization of 500k is looking increasingly likely at some point after that.

I take one hope from this war - that a war of invasion may now be impossible to win, so whats the point of starting one.

Has anyone ever looked at their own postings for last day or so? Oh my... so sorry. Was Ullaa

We're genetically flawed inasmuch as we've evolved to crave excess and that craving overrides logic and species-level survival instincts.

We've not evolved a wisdom to keep in check the cleverness which we have evolved.

The worship of unchecked capitalism on a finite, dying world is the major symptom of that, and we deal with that symptom by scratching and picking and gouging at ourselves in what we call war.

We allow it to continue because there's a profit to be had.

We're terminally flawed.

Not sure Russia are making a profit out of this war mate - quite the opposite:-

“ In a RAND report from December 2023, researchers estimated Russia’s operational costs in Ukraine at $3.1B per month. Over four years of war, this amounts to $149B. Russia’s GDP losses since the invasion average $281B annually, totaling $1.124T. Consequently, Russia’s total losses for the war against Ukraine are about $2.5T, which exceeds Russia’s GDP of $2.2T.”

It’s an imperialist land grab nothing more, nothing less. Now the impacts have started reaching the Russian homeland, hopefully there will be pushback against Putin’s needless slaughter of his own people (especially if there’s a wider attempt at conscription from the major cities).

I just want to say one word to you. Just one word...drones.

Putin and now Trump have ignored the new world order. It doesn't matter if you're a superpower anymore. Every country with a spare billion or so to spend on drones can now compete with you on the battlefield. This is why Ukraine and now Iran are able to act with seeming impunity against "more powerful" adversaries.

Hopefully the positive that will emerge from this revolution is: the days of empire building and expansion are over.
