Had assumed he would be here next season, probably as the back up.

But the fact that there seems to be a number of clubs 'chasing' him, implies he wont be, surely if GON wanted him here 100% then they would all be told, no chance and therefor wouldn't be chasing?

So that implies we have confidence in getting in enough players of good enough quality to allow him to leave.

I would hope so. Taylor is not PL quality.
Top end championship for sure, but the gap between that and the quality required for survival, especially in the 6 and 8 positions is huge.

With Taylor, you have to add on a little bit to his value to us above and beyond his abilities, because he's established here, we know he gives 100% no matter what, he's robust and reliable and emotionally sound, and he can cut it physically.

He can certainly do a job for us in the PL as part of a 4 or 5 man CM group, so any replacement would need to be a pretty good PL standard to be an overall upgrade.

Good work by Philogene...... GREAT WORK BY PHILOGENE!!!

Whether you believe he is good enough or not (I'm of the opinion he'd be fine as a back up),
My point is, that if clubs are sniffing round, and not been told to jog on.

Then surely we must be confident of getting enough good quality (improvements on JT) players in the door in time. Which must mean what, 3 more?

I agree with you - the implication is positive in terms of our confidence about what is to come in that area of the park

but it makes me sad to apply the same logic to Jaden - I would rather he stayed

I don't think we'll be letting him go until we have two new midfielders in.

That said I do think this is a good opportunity to sell- he's got good value, but isn't good enough to start in the prem for us.

Expect a fee in the £8-10m range and we invest that into a shiny £25m CM.

I said most of last season that he is a much better player than people give him credit for. I would 100% keep him. Nobody even know what kind of setup we are going to field and they are saying no.

Why would you tell a club 'no chance' regarding a midfielder who might be 4th/5th in the pecking order in the next few weeks?

Is he available? Yes, for the right price and yes, should we recruit better options. I think it's that simple as opposed to GON not wanting him.

Of course clubs will be interested in him. Wether there is a deal to be done is another question entirely.
