Guess it depends if it was written in the clause or not. |
It could also come down to any negotiations regarding the specifics of the clause.
Last summer a few people were saying that release clauses would require 100% payment up front, rather than over a few seasons. If that is the case, it may have given us latitiude to negotiate a sell-on in return for the usual installment-based payments. | |

£20m for Broja, but given that he'd only played 18 games (without scoring) in the previous 2 seasons combined even that was generous!
£30m feels the right price for Delap, he's certainly not performed to a level that would suggest a steep price increase. I don't think he's going to get the permanent options that Chelsea would be hoping for, I can see a spell out on loan for him next season. |  | | |
