GB jnr and I will be taking the flight down tomorrow.

Sometimes I think about the frothing lunatics I’ve put on ignore, who will have kept replying to me again and again, but I don’t even realise they exist.

It's alright Stokie. As you never set foot in Portman Road you are offsetting my carbon footprint.

Is this true?

Taking Glassers out of it, it is an excellent example of the challenges we face to reduce emissions. I’d hate to think what the carbon footprint of football is each week with teams flying short haul all over the place, fans’ travel, etc.
[Post edited 7 Aug 21:06]

To draw a quick comparison, the CO₂ emissions for 2 short haul return flights is roughly the same as the CO₂ emissions created by all the burgers sold on an average matchday sales by one van...

(Disclaimer: Just the meat...doesn't include the energy used to drive to and from the ground and burn them to a crisp, or the buns and bits to go with them)

He's not wrong though. Lecturing to other people whilst taking long haul flights they next day and short haul flights for a friendly.

Literally do as I say, not what I do.

Something he was very happy to upvote about me.

The hypocrisy is unbelievable.

It’s nice that you thought the person selling trays was sweet.

Last time I was in Churchmans was the 1975 FA Cup game against Leeds when, given the numbers and pressure in the North Stand, people were allowed at half-time to walk along the side of the pitch to the Churchmans where it wasn't so crowded.

If i remember correctly they were quite grumpy but a plastic cup full of bright orange drink was a deal breaker when you were 9 I guess.

Slightly before my time but i remember playing Chelsea in the cup (late 80s maybe early 90s) and the Churchmans was full / rammed to the rafters and my dad had to crowd surf me out of there.

You couldn't get away with it now lobbing small children over a turnstile to get them out of there, when i took my son when he was younger we sat down nicely and clapped when applicable.

Games gone ha

Without wishing to start an argument, recently you were suggesting to people how bad eating meat is for the environment and coming across quite preachy, and yet you're getting a flight for a friendly match?

Presuming Glassers isn't hiring a private get, then the scheduled flight will be making the journey whether he's on the plane or not. So in reality he's not contributing to carbon emissions.

No, I was quite tall but some of the other little kids did that stood at the front.

Reducing it on a per capita basis :-)

I read the in-flight meal is veal, reared on a ranch which used to be Amazon rainforest.

The stupidity of this argument always has wondering whether it's some sort of in joke or not. Sadly, I don't think it is. I think I'll give up.

I went to my first couple of games with my dad but thereafter went with fellow 9 year olds and stood in the Churchmans: we used to get the No.4 bus from Broke Hall estate and in those days you didn't need to be accompanied by an adult.

I can't recall any of us using milkcrates even though we stood half way up but I do remember rattles in those days (1969).

And from recollection, we used to get to the ground around 1.30 and make the most of the build up.

My first experiences of FPR was in Churchman's. Kids on milkcrates and the gates being opened around 80 minutes and loads of "cheapskates" entering to see last few minutes.
The progressed to the Northstand to be part of the noise and feel the surge as a goal went in.

Football has changed!

Boo! We need to put a stop to these people crossing to Churchmans and enjoying the benefits. Send them back to where they came from.
Will they take a test?
I bet they don't even know how to wear blankets around their knees and sip from thermos flasks.
