| Stu saying we are unlikely to push towards Leverkusen valuation on 11:26 - Aug 14 with 4088 views | Marshalls_Mullet | His wages are reported to be huge, which will have an impact on what we can pay. We should just walk away. We talk about an extra £7-8m as if its nothing. | |

| Stu saying we are unlikely to push towards Leverkusen valuation on 11:28 - Aug 14 with 4061 views | portmanking | I'll be gobsmacked if our US owners would just offer well below market value and disappear. I think that could be one that runs to the latter end of the window. If Palacios really wants the move, he may need to push it a bit his end. He's done a lot for Leverkusen, so you'd like to think they'd meet him halfway. | | | |
| Stu saying we are unlikely to push towards Leverkusen valuation on 11:38 - Aug 14 with 3869 views | DJR | Stu says we bid 15 million Euros and that Leverkusen's reported valuation is 35-40 million. That's a helluva gap to make up. [Post edited 14 Aug 11:38]

If we’ve made a bid, we will have received some degree of encouragement from the players side (very possible it’s to be used to attract other clubs) He’s reported to have suffered a 25% wage decrease this season given Leverkusen didn’t make the champions league. Weren’t we rumoured to be paying Kalvin Phillips close to 100k a week? Would imagine it is possible, just incredibly unlikely due to the calibre of player.

We paid £105,000 p/w of Phillips' City salary.

Will also influence what Leverkusen will accept. Some players will have contracts structured in such a way that if they have not sought the transfer, selling club may have to make up shortfall on new contract / pay future loyalty bonuses. All of it has an impact on the actual transfer fee.
| Stu saying we are unlikely to push towards Leverkusen valuation on 11:54 - Aug 14 with 3538 views | barcelonablue2 | Barcelona's opening bid to City for Rodri was also half what City stated was wanted. Considering how over inflated game-reading midfielder prices have been this summer probably smart to bid low and test the waters. The fact Leverkusen have now stated a price may say less about the price and more that they are willing to let him move on this summer and they want to get it wrapped up sooner rather than later. | | | |

This guy, even if he only plays 50% of our games, could be the difference between relegation or survival imho. He's possibly worth 4 or 5 points over 18 games, if that's one win and a few draws, that could well be the difference. We're going to be looking at fine margins and need to lever ever single advantage we can.

| Stu saying we are unlikely to push towards Leverkusen valuation on 13:25 - Aug 14 with 2345 views | BloomBlue | The club with have spoken with his representatives, the club will know what his wage demands are, and factor that into the financial bid. I really don't know how much he is paid but rumours seem range from £140k to £170k per week, that at it's lowest is £7.2m pa. He's 27 (nearly 28) his value isn't going to increase. They will work backwards from that [Post edited 14 Aug 13:25]

There must be someone else out there for a lot less than their asking price. They will never get what they want anyway.

Walk away from a world cup winning midfielder with some of the best stats in Europe?

| Stu saying we are unlikely to push towards Leverkusen valuation on 16:18 - Aug 14 with 1663 views | tetchris | He’s on around £125k a week but recently took a pay cut as didn’t qualify for champions league so is now on around £90k a week. O’Shea is allegedly our top earner on £35k a week. You will cause discord in the dressing room if one player is paid nearly 3x what the next top earner is. Recruitment has definitely taken a leap in quality from last time in PL but we don’t want to end up like Leicester City if we get relegated with loads of players on top wages as it’s not sustainable paying that level of wage in championship let alone league 1. Also top players are reluctant to sign contracts where relegated clauses are inserted. The impression given is that he thinks he is better than town and wants to sign for a bigger club but as of yet none of the bigger clubs have shown interest unless he gets a better offer nearer the end of the transfer window. | | | |

Jesus christ how many times do you have to be told!! You think Diop, Morocco’s starting CB came here at 29 under what O’Shea is being paid, FFS! Just look at his last two contracts.

Total nonsense. He's been a brilliant reporter on club for well over a decade, always fair and reasoned and a good eye for the game. Has a good relationship with the club but holds them to account. My interpretation of that line is that we're not going to meet Leverkusen at their valuation but I think this is all part of the negotiation.
