I haven't used NFC before, but downloaded my season ticket and Leicester ticket to my Google Wallet ready to use.
I had a look in my Settings / More Connectivity Options on my fairly new Android phone and noticed NFC is switched off. I can click to toggle it on, but suspect this is going to catch a lot of people out Saturday so there could be long queues at the turnstiles as people try to show others how to turn NFC on.
I read some phones have NFC on my default, but understand why others like mine have it switched off to maximise battery life. |  | | |  |

Isn't it when the phone is on lockscreen you may need to unlock phone and tap or if like Apple double tap power button to make the wallet active and select season ticket i.e. someone can't steal a phone and rock up and try and scan ticket to gain entry | | | |

Never used google wallet and not much day to day experience with Android to know default behaviour but as another poster said all this stuff typically works out of the box with Apple. | | | |

QR codes are a very different technology and not secure. Dynamic ones are more secure, but also more of a faff. NFCs however if a very simple tech that most people already use many times a day for transactions, travel, all sorts of things. |  |

Also remember turning NFC offers a second level of security, there are already examples of, I'll use the word criminals, with NFC devices standing in crowded trains illegally taking payments from devices with NFC enabled.
Same as they do with physical cards.
Obviously the Town season ticket isn't a payment card, although that will be the next step, so not an issue but if you have payment cards in your wallets and using NFC Off as security don't forget to enable it again. |  | | |
