What percentage are we guessing at?
Is it a percentage of the whole fee or just on the profit Chelsea make?

Guess that all depends on the exact wording contained within that clause. If we have to pay them a percentage of all profit that the club makes then that’ll include any financial gain from subsequent sells.
But if that clause only relates to direct profit which would’ve been LD going to Chelsea then that would be it for City. It’s all dependent on wording and how good MA was in negotiations. [Post edited 25 Aug 23:10]

It will have increased our profit on the player, therefore they will be due their slice of that.
Much as we'll get a bit more if Forest sell him for over £50m (or whatever they actually paid). |  |

The sell on profits can be continued, hence you sometimes hear of a lower league club getting a nice windfall from a player way up the food chain moving on that they once had.
Obviously negotiations try to remove that, but each on its own merit, we might have to pay City, we might not.

I still can't get over the fact Chelsea have managed 50% profit given the season Delap just had. It's nuts.
Can't complain given we get our cut, but hope he doesn't come back to haunt us.
