I assume Johnson moved to play week-in-week-out, but I agree, he has good Premier League experience and while it's never really worked out for him here, he is a solid player. |  | | |

I'm not sure I completely agree with the amount of negativity that goes Kipre's way if I am honest, yes he is limited in some aspects of his game but he also has some very attributes and a fair few good games last season, ok it is a step up but that goes for everyone.

As far as I’m aware his RB credentials for Ireland seem to be overplayed. In the last two qualifying campaigns at least he’s been one of 3 CBs alongside Collins and O’Brien. He has played a few games there in the past, so maybe that’s where this is coming from. He’s played a few games for us at RB now as well but I still wouldn’t say that makes him a natural choice for RB.
He doesn’t play like a right back. He’s not as energetic covering as much ground and struggles against pace. He’s better in the centre for us imo. He’d be ideal in a 3 if GON went that way.
My feeling is that although he can do a job at RB he’s is better at CB, and we’d be better with a natural athletic fullback. |

I'd modify that and say he's not used to playing against twisty, turny wingers higher up the pitch. He's got bags of pace in a straight race, but is relatively slow at turning (especially repeatedly if a winger is chopping inside and out) and consequently tends to stand off and back off a bit more than a normal full back would.
If he can modify his game a little to be able to twist and turn quicker and play a bit tighter to his man, he'll be fine there. He's got the raw attributes to do it, he's just not used to playing that way.
I love him at RCB - he was absolutely imperious there against Championship forwards - but if we need him to do a job at RB, at least until January, then I'd back him to grow into that in the next few weeks. |  |
