A lot of sabre rattling by Argentina this morning, especially now as it looks like Trump is getting involved.
Our Armed forces are in a mess at the moment, the government have even cancelled training, trying to save 30m, which is a drop in the ocean. If we can’t spend 30m on training we are in a lot of trouble.
I know Argentina are in a worse state than us, but would Trump give them weapons and planes?
Because after all, he loves oil and it looks like we’ve found a massive oil field out there.
I know we have 4 Euro fighters down there, and over a 1000 soldiers, but it’s still a worry. We definitely couldn’t get a task force ready, every single submarine we have is in fas lane at the moment for repairs. Same for most of the navy.

That is probably the sensible option.
But considering British army personnel died defending the islands (within living memory) no UK government will hand over sovereignty to the Argentinians.
When Argentinian presidents bang on about the islands it’s to appease their electorate. They know full-well that they will never be able to take them back by military force. And they know that no UK government will negotiate their sovereignty.
So every few months a Argentinian President will bring up the issue of the islands, the UK government will reject and then a few months later it’ll start again. Maybe in around fifty years time, things may change but not anytime soon. |  | | |

We’re are told time and time again our armed forces are some of the best in the world, Yet they just take cuts after cuts. We’ve relied on the US for far too long. I honestly think our troops could be involved somewhere soon, and it won’t be the falklands. We need to be ready.

Yeah really sensible if you like storing up future conflicts. We appeased Russia over taking Crimea, and look how that worked out….
If the answer is just to hand over territory to avoid war, why not just hand Gaza and West Bank to Israel. Same principle, the people of the Falklands are 99pc British. Well he's been a cabinet minister previously as well as held shadow ministerial roles so he clearly does have the credentials. It is also correct that he wasn't an MP again until recently so he's not really to blame for what he's being blamed for.
