Will be interesting to see how they're compared to environmental groups who did the same and who mainly showed their faces. Were anti terror laws used against them in the end? Weren't there calls by certain sections on the right to run them over?
Let's wait and see.

Have you see the UN has stated that just 1% of these people on the rubber boats have a right to claim asylum in England?
That means 99% of them don’t.
Yet they still pour in,the country is heaving with too many people in it.
It can’t carry on.
Mind you nothing will change, our leaders are cowards.
Have a good day.
These balaclava wearing chaps in Dover by BlueBoots9 Sep 7:26 The UN didn't state that only 1% of asylum claims are genuine - it was an unnamed Home Office whistleblower stating an opinion, which has yet to be backed by facts anywhere (and this story made it to many media sources)
"Three police forces on the south coast of England are working to protect lifeboat volunteers, staff and buildings from rightwing activists who blame the Royal National Lifeboat Institution for helping asylum seekers to land on the British coast."
What is wrong with these people, and why do they hate a treasured institution so much?
As well as being racist, one would have to be extremely callous to allow a fellow human being to drown just because of the colour of their skin.
EDIT: a couple of top rated comment on Mailonline demonstrating these attitudes aren't confined to far right demonstrators on the streets.
"Aiding and abetting illegal entry in to the UK sounds pretty traitorous to me!"
"The individual lifeboat volunteers are no doubt decent people, but the highly politically correct RNLI bosses are the ones who need targeting. Shame on them!"

They’re just extremely thick, hateful racists. The idiots turned up at a hotel where some Pakistani cricketers were staying because they’d heard a group of brown faces arrived by coach. Just thick as mince and primarily racist. That’s the only explanation needed.
A lot of them do have no regard to people as evidenced by the disproportionately high number of charges and convictions flagged in this ‘community’. This Daniel Thomas seems little different and has faced alleged domestic abuse charges and linked to grooming of young rape gang victims.
Whilst Reform initially criticised the Dover protest, Hope Not Hate points out the following.
"By the time the Portsmouth protest started, senior party figures were issuing far more favourable statements. Suella Braverman stuck a sympathetic tone while sharing a video of the protest:
“People in Portsmouth are angry, scared and feel like this government is actively trying to destroy the country. Enough is enough.”
Deputy leader Richard Tice tried to square the circle by drawing a false distinction between the two protests, saying that while protesters in Dover “looked like a very intimidating militia”, the Portsmouth demo was altogether different: “almost nobody was wearing masks […] this was a genuine, very frustrated group of people saying enough is enough”.
Not a good look at all to be supporting what are far right thugs but this shows the Reform dilemma in that it is torn by having to appeal to both Tory voters and Restore voters.

Here we go again with the R word. You don't have to be racist, (or thick)..that's a nice double whammy today, to have concerns about:
a) RNLI acting as a taxi service for continuous, planned arrivals. This isn't a medical or sea emergency under SOLAS, it's foreseeable, not a mayday.
b) Unvetted people arriving continuously, that's a fair thing to want answers on.
The Pakistan cricket team thing is a terrible look, can't defend it. Do consider though that many people really have had enough of a) & b) and a coach load of people turning up together is going to raise questions. That's human nature, not automatically hate or stupidity.

I still don’t think that’s the clip I saw.
But thanks for posting it anyway.
Too many Facebook clips of Duncan-Smith and Kyle rage baiting the nation to find the actual clip, however this search in Google ("jeremy kyle iain duncan smith 1% asylum fact check") prompts the following AI overviw (caveat emptor! "AI responses may include mistakes"):
The "1% genuine asylum claims" figure originates from an undercover investigation (my note - The Times 4 days ago?) and a Home Office whistleblower report, rather than an official government statistic. The claim gained widespread traction across UK media and political talk shows, including Jeremy Kyle’s program where figures like Sir Iain Duncan Smith have frequently debated the UK's migration and asylum policies.
Here is the breakdown and fact-check of the claim:
The Origin of the "1%" Figure The Whistleblower Account: The specific figure stems from an exclusive report published by The Times. An anonymous Home Office decision-maker (identified as "J") who had assessed thousands of applications claimed that, in his personal experience, "at best 1 per cent of asylum seekers are genuine". The Allegations of Fraud: The whistleblower alleged systemic exploitation of the asylum process. This included claims that applicants utilized coached scripts, fabricated stories, or falsified documentation (such as posing as gay or pretending to be fleeing highly specific political threats) to easily game the system.
The Fact Check & Official Statistics While the whistleblower's account reflects the perspective of an internal reviewer, it directly contradicts official Home Office data regarding overall asylum approval rates. Initial Grant Rates: According to official UK government data and analysis by organizations like the Refugee Council, the actual percentage of asylum seekers granted refugee status or other leave to remain at the initial decision stage typically ranges between 35% and 70%, heavily depending on the applicant's country of origin (e.g., extremely high approval rates for citizens of war-torn nations like Afghanistan or Syria). The Appeals Process: For applications that are initially rejected, a significant portion go on to be overturned at appeal. Independent tribunals frequently find that the initial Home Office refusal was incorrect, further pushing the final "genuine" recognition rate higher than the first-stage statistics imply.
Context in the Media Debate On programs like Jeremy Kyle, this 1% claim has been used by critics of the immigration system to argue that the Home Office interview process is dysfunctional, making it "easier for officials to approve claims than reject them". Conversely, human rights advocates and refugee organizations point out that independent legal standards and the high rate of successful legal appeals prove that the vast majority of applicants processed do meet the strict legal criteria for needing international protection.

Yes, unfortunately racism is part of some humans nature.
Coach loads of people turn up at lots of places it’s sort of the point of having coaches.

If that was a coach load of white people turning up together it doesn't raise any questions.
It's a bit odd to say "can't defend it" then go on and attempt to defend it using "human nature".

Yeah you do. Harassing volunteers of the RNLI whose charter is solely to save lives at sea because they picked up migrants is a particularly racist and thick thing to do. It’s about time we stood up to this shit and stopped legitimising it.

You lose all credibility by trotting out the “taxi service” line. These are real human beings, including children, drowning at sea.

I agree it's not right to bandy about the word racist but it is very difficult to argue that the far right male protesters in Dover and Portsmouth are not racist. And that was all that I think that Swansea Blue was saying.
But maybe you wouldn't regard Tommy Robinson or his former bodyguard Danny Thommo as racist.

Foreseeable crossings picked up mid-Channel, not genuine mayday rescues. What do you call that, if not a taxi service?
You can hold both both true.. the RNLI running a de facto taxi/ferry for a predictable route is a legitimate thing to question. Pointing that out isn't denying anyone's humanity.

I'm genuinely flabbergasted that some people, including on here, are trying to portray these idiots as good people, or to give them a sympathetic hearing.

The very way you phrase it makes it seem like the RNLI aren’t doing anything other than saving people’s lives. The hate they are getting and the ignorance in which people are attributing accountability to them (which you are doing, deliberately or not) is appalling.
It’s incredibly disrespectful to what they do, the danger they put themselves in, not to mention the trauma those in the boats are experiencing.
If there are conversations to be had about “illegal immigration”, they should be carried out with respect, without assumptions and from a practical standpoint. Lazy soundbites and harassment of services and struggling humans will just set us back further.
It’s so interesting to me that those of a certain political persuasion are so incensed by the 1% of RNLI rescues, and harass/protest because of the perceived impact it is having on our economy, but fail to direct the same level of anger towards governments which have caused material, tangible damage to us over the past 20 years. Again, self-reflection is required.

Presumably the RNLI intervene when not to intervene might put lives at risk if the crossing were to continue
Are you suggesting they stop intervening?
If they did stop, two consequences might follow. There might be the odd occasion where the people drowned. The other perhaps more likely option would be that the boat landed, with possibility of the people landing going off in all directions, as I witnessed in Hastings on one occasion.
Indeed, I imagine the main reason the Border Force pick up those in small boats is to ensure none escape.

Just for actual clarity, rather than ridiculous statements being made about the RNLI
They launched 9,058 times in 2025 Only 109 were to those in distress in the channel This is 1.2% of their total rescue work Anyone rescued from a small boat by the RNLI is taken into the care of the relevant UK authorities
It is not a taxi service and the alternative you are suggesting is to let these people drown

Are you claiming that the RNLI attend boats in the channel that are not in distress? Don't think that's true. Border Force do.
According to the RNLI's CEO's statement on Tuesday: "Nearly 95 per cent, of those who crossed the English Channel in small boats last year [...] were picked up by the UK Border Force. Our mission, and our tasking is to rescue those women, children and men in danger of drowning. "
It's generally the Coastguard that calls out the RNLI, they're not stood on the cliffs at Dover with some binoculars looking for people who might appreciate a lift.

"Some more 'evidence' - The UNHCR thinks that the Home Office only meets it's internal standards in 52% of asylum claims."
Just for clarity, the UNHCR audit was published in March of this year. The Home Office and UNHCR agreed that UNHCR would conduct an audit of asylum interviews in September 2024, which included a total of 30 asylum interviews randomly selected for observation, plus an additional 30 case files (interview transcript and decision) were selected for detailed review (all carried out between November 2024 and January 2025)
I've read the executive summary and the list of recommendations. It's not clear to me whether an increase in quality would lead to more asylum claims being accepted or rejected.
