Will O'neil change shape? 18:40 - Sep 6 with 1190 viewsFrimleyBlue

The question asked so far

Perhaps this answers it

When he took over at Bournemouth, he started off with his 4 2 3 1, rotating that with a 3 4 2 1 formation in the 2nd half of games

After the Jan window, he brought in the 4-4 2 and 4 4 1 1 to solidify the side and ensure safety was managed.

Wolves
At wolves he experimented with a fair few, but his favoured 4 2 3 1 meant he was given away far to many chances so reverted to a 3-4-3 type formation. Similar to KM however his time at wolves was seen as not having a specific formation and it was more about roles. But that was the general gist of it

Strasbourg, nothing stands out as a specific style, injuries and suspensions and cup games meant he was using players in various positions.

We will have to see what happens in the next couple of games. If we pick up points then maybe these players are capable of overcoming weaker sides.
If that doesnt happen then O' Neil needs to look at it , to a certain extent it comes down to learn or burn.

He will for different games as he had said as much. Away days at Man City etc I expect to see a much more defensive and counter ouch set up.

But we are 3 games in and we have played one direct survival opponent (for want of a better way of putting it) and we won. I think we will approach the next month or two in the same way unless it's all going pear shaped.

We should be right in the next few games. Two away is tricky but 2-3 points will keep us where we are or slight improvement moset likely. Anything more and we are loving life.

By the same token, it's important not to panic if we do lose the next two away games. Both Palace and Everton will start those games as the favourite. I'll be delighted if we should pick up any points at all.

That's not meant sound defeatist, just realistic.

I completely agree but obviously pressure will build. This place will be a nightmare quite frankly if we fail to win either given there is already a group who were very vocal because we didn't win against United or Liverpool. (Plenty of sensible fans for balance though they will be labelled 'Happy Clappers' if we don't get some wins.

3 points would be really good from next 2. We just keep building and hopefully have some points on board by the next home game.

Eight of the eleven who started our last game were signed this summer. They played a side where each member of the starting eleven cost more than our record transfer. That’s mental.

We need time to bed in. We might have different systems, sure, but we need time regardless.

I’ve seen more signs for optimism than I saw two years ago. We have better players this time.

I have some faith.
