| Sindre on 10:12 - Sep 30 by WolfieAtTheBack | He was only 20 in June, plenty of time to work out what to do with him. Scoring goals for his national team (at any level) is not going to do him any harm. |
What's the cut off though when it comes to age and progression? Delap, Kane etc had loan spells We've got a 20 year old who cost us £20 mill because of his goal scoring figures, training every week with zero exposure to high level or any level of regular football I guess I just don't get what the plan is for him here I guess its just my preference for players to have weekly exposure to actual football matches over training

| Sindre on 11:58 - Sep 30 with 426 views | Bury_St_Emersonn | He's young and has come from what i'd like to say is a massively lower class league to over here 1st season was in Championship which is more physical in the bullying sense of play. he had some gametime, moments and you can see there is a player in there to be developed Prem, harder physically, but less bullish arguably due to more skill. So many people raving about his U21 goals for Norway, don't get me wrong it's not to be knocked at all, and should guide his development, but Haaland2 he is not he is SWE1 and we need to appreciate that and mould/train his as best as the people who see him every day see fit to | | | |

| Sindre on 19:08 - Sep 29 by FrimleyBlue | On the right wing as far away from the danger area, or in cm. It baffles me how we have the next Haaland and we've completely ignored him as a 9. |
to be fair, C.Ronaldo was probably destined to be a 9, but he started off as a left wing (or was it right ?). Takes time to physically develop enough to do the role against some of the monsters that play as C.B . The gap between Bosnia &Herzegovina u21s and Everton CBs is enormous.

Ronaldo only became a 9 when he started to lose his explosive acceleration on the flanks imo and his flairy step overs started to be done in slow motion lol

| Sindre on 22:51 - Sep 29 by Nutkins_Return | Take a breath and listen to yourself FFS. "Rotting in the training group". You have completely lost the plot and got lost in your own argument here. He is a completely different player to Haaland and for anyone to see in a different body/physical development stage to Haaland at the same age. The comparison is silly on just about every level other than nationality and scored goals at junior level. I really like Egeli as a player. He's clearly technically high high level. But it's patently obvious he has a bit of physical development to do for the prem. I think he has taken some good steps towards that and looks stronger than 9 months ago. I agree he will likely play centrally an most likely a 10. But we are in the prem and you would be the first to get annoyed if we are losing games whilst developing him. Enciso is a class act and has the 10 nailed down. Emersonn is much more physical and also a top young talent. Egeli isn't rotting. He's developing and now playing day in and day out with better players. He will get some minutes but will have fight for them. The club are doing the right thing for him and the club. |
Thank god someone speaks sense with regards to developing him. He's a good player with fantastic potential but if anyone thinks he is ready for weekly PL football they must clearly know more than professional managers who watch these players every day. There is absolute massive difference betwen U21 football and mens football. Every PL U21s team usually gets tonked in the Paint cup thingy by L1 and L2 clubs. Do those clubs have better players no, but are they seasoned professionals with strength, maturity and experience - yes - and that matters hugely no matter how talented you are. | Sindre on 22:58 - Sep 29 by NthQldITFC | I can't quite explain why, but I strongly feel the Sindre is better off here, training with top notch players, rather than having a loan in the Championship etc. He's got something about him which will come out better in this environment I think, getting some time training and playing with and against better quality opposition, rather than in the hectic, lower quality leagues against the likes of Norwich etc. |
I broadly agree from a technical p.o.v, but also feel a season in the Champ would toughen him up a lot, improve his competitive nature when in physical situations. I think he needs hardening up a bit. Only first team football truly does that.

| Sindre on 21:51 - Sep 29 by Swansea_Blue | In fairness to Frimmers, that’s the actual comparison that has been made throughout most of his age group football. Largely because he played the same position and his stats have been better than Haaland’s at the same age. But then I’m also old enough to remember Veliče Šumulikoski being touted as the Macedonian future Steven Gerrard. So I guess expectations don’t always play out. |
And look at the over-hyped promise Wickham showed as he was so physically big and strong for his age in every age group up to first team. Early promise is not a guarantee of future success. The amount of England u21 players who never break through to the full team is immense.

I wasnt saying he should be playing weekly prem football. Firstly it was more about him scoring goals as a 9 which we dont seem to developing him as But secondly because i feel he should be playing football somewhere on loan i said that last season. We arent talkint about an academy lad like humphreys. We paid £20 mill on this guy. A hell of lot of money to not be getting him out there scoring goals. Get him on loan developing.

I think the coaches need to work out what to do with him as first job, settle him into that position then consider if he stays or goes out on loan NEXT season.

probably should have happened last season really instead of shoehorning him into the right wing. But he had to be played somewhere because of the price tag. If he had cost half a million he would have spent most of the season in the u21s developing into his best position.

Where do you loan him though? You need to be careful and it needs to the right move. Just playing games isn't a fast track to unlocking his potential. Would be easy to send him out to any old Championship club but questionable if that would necessarily be of much benefit. I think you underestimate how useful training competitively in a positive environment alongside better players can be for development. Hopefully he can impress over the course of the season and work his way into the matchday squad and get minutes. I do find it strange that we still don't seem to have established his best position though. He looks a 9 to me. I think that will be where he ends up and where should be prepping him to play.

If we off loaded him on a perm deal and another club do work out what to do with him and starts to play really well then questions would be asked of what did we miss and why. Likewise if we loan him and he fails, then he would have to come back to Town and he would be moved on (see above). It's a bit of an odd one to be fair when you break it down. | Sindre on 13:56 - Sep 30 with 259 views | TRUE_BLUE123 | Definitely the right decision to keep him in house for now. Would like to see him play in the U21s cup when he's back from int duty just to get some match minutes. When I watch him I just cant get over the lack of explosiveness/physicality to his game, which can be ok if you are exceptional technically and that's what we need to find out, if he has that side of his game. Best to do that in house for now as opposed to sending him to slog it out in the champ imo.

IF he was to be loaned in January I would like him to go back to Norway, play a few games, spend time with his family then come back fully fit for pre season and start again with a clear position and role which he will stick to for the next stage of his development. Plus we get until then to work on him a bit more between now and then which can only be a good thing. He is really young, we must remember this.
