Scherpen’s stats on Opta have had him ahead of Walton on most metrics for weeks.
I suspect that GON made the switch to have some time to work with Scherpen on the training ground without the weekly pressure of games, and the plan was to bring him back at the right point. Some could argue the right time is now, but GON will be seeing what’s happening during training, and know when to make that call. And I’m confident he will.
Many have already written off Scherpen, and that risks another Muric situation. If GON makes the switch, supporters need to give Scherpen a chance, and get behind him. Wipe the slate clean for his return, and see how it goes. | | | |

This is the point isn't it? Muric took time to settle, got grief from the fans and never came back from it.
Scherpen has taken time to settle, was taken out of the firing line and could come back in at any moment - he has been on the bench. If he comes in and plays like Muric of last season, what's the problem? Of course some fans will still base their opinion of him on what they saw early on but why can't he be a solid keeper?
