| What is it about Moyes ? 10:05 - Nov 3 with 784 views | OldFart71 | I think the question has to be asked is what is it about David Moyes that makes him such a good manager. It was said prior to the season starting that they were short of players and maybe things will change if he gets a few injuries. But there's no doubt he is doing a brilliant job. Maybe not a manager for a top club, although it could be said that along with Newcastle they should be up there, but due to the fact that they like many of these on the edge of greatness clubs still sell their best assets and have owners unlike our own who seem prepared for the long haul. That's not to say we won't sell if the opportunity comes along as we saw with Delap (maybe we didn't have a choice) and Hutch who threw his toys out of the pram. | | | | |

think the problems at Man U are beyond any manager to sort out

Other than an aging squad, there were no problems when Sir Alex left.

I was watching their excellent shape, system and workrate last night thinking exactly the same, what if Man U had given him time? Yes he’s got the two in form centre backs in the league, and in Dewsbury Hall a Rolls Royce. But imagine of Moyes had had access to the transfer kitty Man U had squandered. They could have been robust and attack attack attack.. leaving the front 4 to be free.

Having watched Everton under Moyes for a while, it's evident that this isn't the case. Yes, they are defensively well organised (as a team), especially when out of possession. But actually, they are creative and good going forward. I have to say, I have enjoyed watching them play. For whatever reason, he's viewed somewhat as a pragmatic manager, which is underselling his ability somewhat. [Post edited 3 Nov 10:54]

He's low risk, hence the failure at Utd where they expect to be attacking, and not exactly exciting but he builds his teams from the back, around hard working players and sprinkles that with some flair. Hes pretty much Mick but but better and a bit less agricultural.

think most man u fans would disagree - when they took over the Glazers saddled the club with half a billion debt that the clubs they were competing with didn't have to worry about. Since the takeover they've been paying it off with interest = a lot of money they would have been better off investing in old trafford, training, struture etc. not just about the money though, a bit like us they lost their identity, poor governance and the wrong people behind the scenes will do that.

| What is it about Moyes ? on 11:21 - Nov 3 with 375 views | Garv | Find his teams generally quite boring and against us they were poor. Scored with a very lucky goal. His squad is small but individually he's got some great names, I wouldn't say he's working miracles. He's got the England no.1 in goal, his midfield is packed full of good young footballers, £100m Grealish is there, defensively he's got a mix of experience and potential, plus they all seem to be massive. It's up front where he's obviously light but there's worse strikers around than Barry. I find Moyes a bit of a miserable so and so, so I'm probably clouded by that. | |

Plus an ill-balanced squad containing a number of billy big bollox players not suited to the team.

I was thinking more along the lines of playing success. Bear in mind the Glazers were shareholder 10 years before Sir Alex left and as long as they were still successful on the pitch, the fan base were overall quite muted about the debt, a few yellow and green scarves here and there and the odd protest was about the height of it. It got far more toxic once the success dried up.

He's a manager that gets solid results, absolutely, but i very much disagree that his teams are good to watch. Only 2 teams have scored less than them, and only Leeds have fewer overall goals scored and conceded) than them, they are the most pragmatic and cagey team in the league. Horrible team to watch as a neutral.
