I think you've misread this completely. Khan is saying that people shouldn't be alarmed about more police on the street, which many people might link to a new attack underway rather than an overall tightening of security.
Trump took it completely out of context to make a self-serving point about supposedly politically correct enemies of society who tolerate terrorism. An entirely fake enemy that doesn't exist but never mind. |  |
