When news stories give you a TWTD flashback 21:23 - Sep 25 with 2194 viewsMullet

Just seen Jack Lester is about to be made Chesterfield boss, and immediately it came to mind that he had this rather charming outburst after playing us back in 2003.

Lester's Spastic Outburst 24th Nov 2003 12:51
Sheffield United striker Jack Lester looks set to face an FA charge after describing Saturday's referee Mick Fletcher a "spastic". Lester was booked for repeatedly diving during Town's 3-0 victory over the Blades. 0

Anyone else find that sometimes TWTD stories form their frame of reference for far too many obscure football type stuff?

what always stand out when trawling the archives is the difference in quality of Ham's early articles compared to the more polished stuff we get now. Night and day.

Assume Lester got hammered by the FA for his outburst?

Although he had a sense of humour back then.

Old Git's Reserve Match reports are always worth a read, he wasn't so embittered with life back in the early 2000s as he seems to have become later.

Pah, I take offence to that, I've never had a sense of humour.

If this version of Phil was around today, there'd probably be about 3 users left on the board. The might of the ban hammer would be gargantuan...

Former Town star Steve Sedgley will be readying himself for a great wodge of cash today as Wolves prepare to pay him off. 1

On the subject of Jack Lester, my cousin and his son support Forest.

When son of cousin was a kid, Jack Lester was his favourite player, he had autographed shirts and everything.

Fast-forward 10-12 years, and son of cousin is now at Nottingham Trent Uni on a sports coaching degree and he has a voluntary placement helping the Forest Academy, so he now knows JL as an adult, but he's still in awe that he gets to work alongside his childhood idol.

Does this conclude the debate that we haven't become worse behaved you just went all corporate? Also the debate that twtd was more fun when you could speak openly.
