Aaron Drinan 16:38 - May 22 with 2289 views | Bobbychase | Seems to be having a decent season with Waterford. Does anyone think he'll have an impact next season or will we loan him out again to get more experience. Or will we sell him and he'll become the Irish Jack Marriott I ask all these questions as I've never seen him in the flesh

There’s a huge difference between the League of Ireland and League One

Can't be. I read lots on here about how he was a pub player signed by an idiot.

I would guess it’s a similar standard

I’ve seen enough of both to make a fair judgement. Also throw in the fact that the majority of stand out players in the league of Ireland fail to make it in the English game and I’d say it’s a fair comment. I’ve no idea if Drinan will make it for us or not but on the evidence so far I’d say it’s unlikely

That is an incorrect statement. The majority of stand out players in the League of Ireland fail at the higher level of English football. League of Ireland Premier Division would be similar but a higher standard than English League One. This makes any player coming from there, well capable of holding their own. Our current forward line isn't exactly pulling up trees.

“League of Ireland Premier Division would be similar but a higher standard than English League One” I completely disagree. Do you honestly think think the likes of Bohs, Pats or Finn Harps would compete with even weak league one sides like Rochdale or Gillingham? I don’t see it personally. I’d argue the League of Ireland is more similar to that of the conference I do agree about our forward line though. And I wouldn’t be against giving Drinan a run out in our first team [Post edited 22 May 2019 21:32]
