Edit.... so tempting to stick this under 'football!'

Thanks you for posting this.

The amount of roadkill seen on the roads of today is highly alarming.

My retirement plan involves cycling the country roads of Suffolk, scraping up roadkill and giving them respectable pagan burials ala Crowman from Worzel Gummidge.

Should definitely be posted under ‘football’, btw.

However most roadkill served with chips and a few flakes of chilli do make a nice meal.

and there was me thinking it had something to do with thoughtless drivers driving too fast

with a dash of cost-cutting in road contruction to avoid fencing and animal crossing points that are standard paractice in more caring (and less crowded) countries

You could et like a king in Wiltshire.
Just drive along the A4 between Calne and Hungerford.

Pheasant
Badger
Deer
Fox

You need to fight off the stunning Red Kites who hover at around 30 m and swoop in the most majestic manner.

Assumption is to make an ass out of you and me. Those who assume they know you, when they don't are just guessing. Those who assume and insist they know are daft and in denial. Those who assume, insist, and deny the truth are plain stupid. Those who assume, insist, deny the truth and tell YOU they know you (when they don't) have an IQ in the range of 35-49.

A car is barely needed in London. Never did more than 6000 in any year and that was driving to family, hols, and Tuesday night games at ITFC

But the London hedgehogs and foxes will be that little bit safer.

Agreed.

How have black cabs got away with their killing machines? They are awful, possibly the worst.

If public infrastructure was better, and probably cheaper, we could happily give up the car (only got the one between us).

Use public transport or cycle to work, Nottingham is pretty decent for that. However, I have a lot of family down in Milton Keynes and the links between here and there are pretty bad. Think it would be a two and a half hour trip down. And it's £50 for a return, which is crazy.

Squirrels are the new hedgehogs.

The roads round my way are littered with them.

I got one the other day whilst out on my bicycle.

It was accidental and I felt terrible about it. I did not laugh.

You obviously don't live in London as the hedgehog population has decreased dramatically as the fox population increased. Hedgehogs aren't safe in London with all these foxes around.

I couldn't.

Need a vehicle to transport my tools and materials to jobs (often out in the countryside).

Plus public transport links between West and East are even worse than that. On the train, £100 return, 4.5 hours each way with two or three changes.

The East-West Rail Link should help with that.

The trouble is it doesn't go to London so gets sod all funding and no government support. As a result it seems to have been stuck for the last decade.

If a squirrel can be hit by a cyclist then it proves natural selection.

Me too. It's handy but I really don't use it much. Given that and the climate issues it seems a bit pointless. Would make getting back to Ipswich a pain though.

I would go electric but it's not feasible in London at the moment.

I didn't just hit it, the bloody thing ran under my wheel

It has got halfway across the road, was in the clear, then doubled back to death.

Shortly after another one tried the same trick but I was alert to the possibility of squirrel suicide by then and dodged the little fvcker.
