So many things to love about that, but I have no idea - given the height of the ball and the angle of his leg - how on earth he kept the ball down...it should have been in Row Z (or by the look of that stadium heading for Dublin!!)
When I was about 21/22 (so a long time ago) I worked for a very very large employer in West London. There were enough staff to have a lunchtime/after work 7-a-side competition, with 24 teams spread across four divisions. I played for my department's first VII in the top division (I used to be a pretty tidy player - albeit as a defensive midfielder). We played on astrotuf on half a full size pitch with corners/throw ins etc. I once hit a volley from a corner that flew into the top corner - even 22 years later I can vividly recall what it felt like when it came of the boot. Never ever done anything like it before or since, and whilst it was intentional I reckon I could have another 100 cracks and would never hit it sweeter.
I also scored a second that game from about 35 yards...which all my team mates thought was a blinder, but which I never admitted was a very overhit pass!! |  | | |
